Starting defense against App. 5 seniors, 4 juniors and 2 sophomores. That's a veteran unit with lots of starts. One of the two sophs (J Ellison) was playing in place of injured Jr John Battle.

Ellison has contributed a good amount of time before Battle went down, I wouldn't say he was in cause Battle was injured.

Actually, Ejike (Sr.) started for Battle, not Ellison. Ellison is a starter.

Jackson is our only major loss on D. Not sure where the 5 seniors starting came from. Ejike, replacing Battle, Jackson, Cooper are the only 3 I can think of. Stanley is a Nickelback.

I stand corrected on Ellison.

Starters as listed on GSU's participation report for the App game.
Sr's: LB Jackson, DB Wright, DB Stanley, DB Cooper, DL Ejike
Jr's: DE Richardson, LB Williams, SS Glover, FS Dobson
Soph's: DE Dawson, DB Jones

With the exception of Ejike and Cooper everyone started each game this season.

Sorry I put in Jones at DB in place of Ellison at DE. Doesn't change the class breakdown. Copied from GSU's final stats for participation.

WILL 37 Williams, Antw. - Jr
SS 16 Glover, Antonio - Jr
RC 30 Cooper, Valdon - Sr
NT 99 Ellison, Jay - Soph
NICK 29 Stanley, Deion - Sr
MLB 40 Jackson, Edwin - Sr
FS 7 Dobson, Matt - Jr
DT 91 Ejike, Justice - Sr
DE 54 Richardson, L. - Jr
DE 56 Dawson, Bernard - Soph
CB 21 Wright, Nick - Sr

I believe Jones is actually #1 on the depth chart but got dinged up at Tech. That's the reason Wright started ahead of him.
If everyone is healthy, we "only" start 3/4 Seniors on defense.

Really guys, this is semantics. GS has an edge due to more experienced players, pretty simple. The timing for the move up couldn't have been better. It would have been like App moving up in the mid-2000's.

Well.....Yeah! But anyone could say that. When I played we had an opportunity to move up after our 15-0 1989 season and that would have been a good time. We had another opportunity to do it after the 99 or 2000 season, didnt do it, but that would have been another good timing. Sure its all about timing as far as how a program will succeed in the beginning. Our programs made the choices when we did and rolled the dice. Both will do well IMO. I thought App was pretty good the other night. Couple of plays go your way and it may have been a different ball game, but thats football. App IMO is going to win more games this year than some others think they will.

I was simply pointing out that was not the case according to the players that took the field against App. That is all.

I agree. Injuries are starting to pile up. I have a feeling we are going to go out in a fizzle

Unless the oline has a rash of injuries we should be fine.

this.

We have 2 backups fully capable of running this offense, and a good group of WR's. if something were to happen to Breida, that would be our biggest blow IMO, but then we just put in Izzy instead. And Izzy is just as fast, and just as elusive.

Well we do have some seniors in critical places on the team that will be tough to replace next year so it will be interesting. I think our whole OL is seniors except 1. and they have played together a while and are a very good group. Couple of good D lineman as well that are seniors. Good thing is we play plenty of backups who are looking like they are as good as some of the starters. I think there are some redshirts that will play next year but overall there are, as you said, several seniors playing on both sides.

It's true. We start 0 seniors on the DL and 1 at LB
