RE: GS vs. USA Football Discussion
USA had two or three very bad drops. Then there were two or three where it wasn't a simple catch and the receiver didn't make the play.
The announcers were all over the place. They were so sure that Jackson stepped out of bounds on the int, but footage from a Statesboro camera crew clearly showed he didn't.

Honest and fair question. The weather was gorgeous, the concessions issue from the previous week was dealt with in a good way, and the tailgating atmosphere outside the stadium indicated a much better crowd would come inside.
It was the smallest home crowd in our program's short history, and our 3rd smallest crowd (home or away) ever. The school gives real 'through the turnstiles' attendance, so the number can be trusted.
Who knows? Mobile loves an event, and with so much focus on last week's MSState game, this was bound to be a letdown. And in an area that's paid ZERO attention to FCS over the years, GaSo had to be a complete unknown to the casual fan. In any event, vast swaths of season ticket sections were sparsely populated.
Disappointing.
To be honest, the casual fan probably heard of us a couple of times and never really cared that much to remember. On top of that, they may have figured, 'GS is only a call-up team from the lower ranks. There's probably other things I can do than watch USA beat down a newbie.'
The short term lack of interest in the call up is a negative and likely want change until one of us makes some noise. With the history of Troy and Texas State hopefully not so much but with USA, UL, ULM, and NM yes. The best thing that can happen to the conference, HMO, is for GS and App state to show up big this year. The rest want like it but the positive long term impact would be significant. Unfortunately GS's missed two great opportunities.
