RE: Top Ten Football Dukes since 2002
I'm a line guy and have the knees to prove it.

Brandon Beach. Who else would pop a knee out of place, not whine to the trainer, pop it back in and play? Roane was another fave, and who was the O-line guy that went to buffalo for a bit but didn't make it? Was said to have an "angry streak" and blocked like a road grater? Slipping my mind now but loved watching him play as well. Cortez, DD. and the Hollowman. Not sure if any of them crack your top ten, but these would be on my Christmas card list for providing moments of joy.

Nice write up!

Man - I'm drawing a blank on the name, but I think we had a real good tight end who ended just before the championship season...

Alan Harrison might be your guy Dukester. Ridley played well for that NC team in 2004.

DT Ronnell Brown wouldn't necessarily make my Top 10, but he'd be in my Top 10 most underrated players in that timeframe. when he was out, our D just didn't look the same as when he played. could say the same about LB DJ Brandon (think that was his name) in 2008. when he was out, our D was really affected.

not saying either is in my top 10, just top 10 on the underrated list.

Harrison is who I was thinking about. He played in '04?

How about at least an honorable mention for DJ Bryant? Or should he be excluded for tackling UD QBs too hard?

Dunk, I think the O-lineman you were referring to was Corey Davis. Pretty sure he was a 4 year starter beginning w/ the NC team. That guy was a beast. He should not be confused with the Corey Davis (CB) that got booted off the team last summer for the marijuana/ shooting incident.

I love DJ, and I have a signed picture from him on my desk. Just couldn't find a spot for him in the top 10.

Clint Kent. Cool name. The blocks on the "No Flags" return, the INT return for six vs The Tribe and the clinching INT vs Montana. The 2008 offensive Line should get honorable mention.

Yep, Corey Davis. He was fun to watch play.

Iorio was another fullback/TE (I think that's right) that played a pretty big role in things. Course I'm partial to the mudders, not the pretty boy backs... 04-cheers

Sam Daniels would be another candidate for me. What I wouldn't give to have him and Moats back on the DL. I think Withers and staff have some verbals from guys who are really going to make a difference though.

When I read Dirty's list and look through this thread it really shows the kind of talent the 2004-2010 teams fielded. It also continues to reveal to me this current team does not have the same horses as we use to back during our prime years of 2004-2008.

Yeah, while I think we have a lot of potentially talented players, so many are young or playing out of position compared to last year. I really wonder if any of the seniors will even get a free agent look. Maybe Marlowe, but with the cockeyed position he's being asked to play....it's not helping his case. Most years we have several guys being looked at. I can't help but think that plays into our drop in play.

I'd take out Matt LeZotte, Earl Watford, and Fenner... and sub in Scotty, DJ Bryant, and an under-utilized Mike Caussin

I'm sorry but I can't put a OL in a top 10 list, and if I did, it would be impossible to choose between Magerko, Corey Davis, Watford, etc
