Didn't realize TXST stadium was a hole in the ground stadium and I was at our game last year. And drove pass it at least twice when Western played at TXST in basketball. I'm not a big fan of hole in the ground stadiums...ASU, UL-L.

But I love TXST's stadium as I said many times best in the SBC and I guess it's not a "true" hole in the ground since it's ground level on one end. Troy has the hole in the ground stadium also but it's not too bad....as a football stadium it's nice but it's not my cup of tea. Both Troy and TXST did a great job in hiding this by their design....

Its not a hole in the ground stadium. I believe they put two berms on either side and then built the seating on top of it.

Not sure why you do not like a "below ground" stadium. One comes into the stadium at the midway point. It is just a small climb up, or, down to your seat. At the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, one can have a heart attack going from the entrance to the higher seats. It is physically killing.

I prefer the sunken fields. I think they look much nicer.

So do I. Unless it has a lot of seats the ground level stadiums have a high school feel to them.

Bobcat Stadium doesn't have a sunken down field. See the pre- and post-renovation pictures below. Whenever they built the stadium, they built the east and west stands on large berms. Whenever the west side was renovated in 2009, the berm was taken out. The berm on the east side will likely be taken out in future renovations.

Rumor has it that we cannot sink the field due to the water table being so high right next to the headsprings of the San Marcos River (see aerial view below).

Well we can sink it, but it would just be very expensive to do so. The basketball stadium is closer to the river and it is sunk. I don't think they will sink the football stadium because the cost for a few thousand more seats isn't economical.

I'm ready for more suites to be added to the east side. Not sure how many people want to buy suites facing the setting sun though.

To clarify, that bottom pic isn't from a Texas St game. Most likely from a San Marcos HS game.

My daughter and her family live down the road in Cibilo and had the opportunity to visit this beautiful stadium. It is a plus for the SBC.

Closer to the river, yes. But not closer to the head springs. And I think the dates on some of y'all's pictures might be off. When I started as a freshman in 2009, the suites were already there and completely finished during football season.

Loved the drone's videos though. I am definitely ready for an east side complex as well. Just tent the windows and the sun shouldn't be a huge issue. The west side complex has been sold out since the first season it opened. There's obviously a demand for suites at our stadium. No reason not to put them in and even out the symmetry of the stadium. Plus, add another 1000 or 2 to our capacity.
