With Williams out we had to shuffle the line. Each week (Kent State and MSU), however, we had an additional O-Line injury that caused us to really move people around. I hope that is the reason our offense seemed to sputter at times and that we are able to play better on that side of the ball this weekend with our normal O-Line.

Go Jags!

Was told by a Co-worker who was at the msu game that if the receivers could have held onto the ball the game might have been competitive. This is what scares me, we have a history of not being able to pass protect. Add to this our best D lineman is possibly out (not 100% if he does play) we might be in trouble if those receivers start catching this week.

You are correct. Our QB put the ball where it needed to be. The receivers just couldn't hang on, and a lot of times they were wide open. There must have been at least 10 drops. We probably still lose the game like 31-21 or 31-24 but we killed ourselves with the drops.

watched the first half, you guys were as good as MSU, the dropped long pass in the first quarter was a killer, receiver got behind the defense, qb put the ball right on the money, if receiver catches it, he walks into the endzone, also believe your place kicker missed a short field goal in the first half, got to make those plays if you want a chance at the upset.

I'll never understand the "dropped a sure TD" thing.

This is why I hate relying on a pass heavy offense. Not that that is what yall do. But on a pass play, you can do everything right: Block well, no holding, no sack, receiver gets open, perfect throw .... and drop.

Just one of the 2 bad things that can happen.. or many. Throwing is important - I'm just glad that our bread and butter is still running the ball.

I always find the quote GS fans use about passing amusing. "3 things can happen when you pass and 2 are bad". Same thing for running plays, and its worse if time is an issue. That thinking just always annoyed me. Now back to how Vegas knows what they are talking about when they put USA as the favorite.... oh wait. 03-nutkick

How about these two:

"He who controls the ground, controls the clock. He who controls the clock, controls the game" Imop = holds true most of the time.

"The flying circuses eventually fall"

Heavy pass offenses usually have a lot of low % plays ran. Plus the more you drop back to pass, the higher potential for negative plays, holding calls, sacks - etc.

Note: I didn't use that quote you mentioned. As I would have said something more like, "When you throw the ball a lot of bad things can happen and only one good thing."

But when you run the ball, even most perceived bad running plays gain a yard or two or three.
I'll take 3rd and 4 or 5 over 3rd and 10 everyday.

Being a pass-heavy offense is fine as long as you can punch it in once you get into the red zone.
