Sun Belt ranking this week (9/14)
No one won yesterday so this is not an easy week to try to rank teams but here is how I would do it after Week 3:

1. ULM (I know they lost 31-0 to LSU but they do have a P5 win and I think have played the best ball so far in the conference).
2. Ga. Southern (We are only 1-2 but we have at least played toe-to-toe with 2 ACC teams)
3. Ark. St. (2 losses on road to Tenn and Miami, but played respectatble in both games)
4. South Alabama (I thought they would do better yesterday but I rate them ahead of teams 5-11)
5. App. St. (Not alot to judge on yet but did take care of business at home)
6. Texas St. (Thought they had a good chance vs. Navy at home yesterday but not extremely competitive)
7. Louisiana (2 blowouts in back to back weeks)
8. New Mexico St. (Did get a road conference win)
9. Idaho (Played ULM to a tight game but rolled over yesterday)
10. Ga. State (Did beat Abilene Christian which puts them ahead of Troy)
11. Troy (So far season has been a real dud)

To me 5-11 are really hard to rank. I definitely would have Ga. St. 10th and Troy 11th but 5-9 could be in alot of orders.

Other thoughts?

I won't say GSU played toe to toe with GT. It was a blowout they fought back in. Hard to do and looked good doing it. But Texas St fought back slightly too and made it look better than it was. GS did the same but better.

We took the lead with 7:00 to go and were driving for a 10 point lead until The officials screwed us on an incorrect replay reversal.

GS took the lead with 10:46 left in the game and held it until 23 seconds left. We can argue semantics on the makeup of the game, but this is the 2nd P5 game we've been in position to win until the very end.

Will grant I did not watch the Texas St./Navy game. I see Navy won by 2 TDs. Was Texas St. within striking distance in the 2nd half?

Not trying to be a homer in my rankings. I am trying to compare what Ga. Southern has done in its 3 games vs. the other Sun Belt teams. Yes we lost twice but neither was a blowout and we took both down to the last minute of the game.

No, they were not. It was 28-0 at half.

Sorry, but you're wrong. It was 28-7 at the half

Yes it was 28-0 midway through the 2nd quarter when everyone changed the channel, but it was 21-7 TXST the rest of the way.

So yes we made a game of it. I wouldn't say we played great, but we played decent. We played very well in the second half.

it was 28-14 early in the fourth and we took back the momentum for a bit. We started moving the ball really well and got some stops. So yes, we had some chances and were within striking distance for a comeback in the fourth. Navy didn't put the game away until the second half of the 4th quarter.

GS performance was better, but ours was decent all things considered. Guess you had to watch the game to know what we are talking about.

I'll be honest here. I could care less if, at this point, we are ranked 11th. By the end of the season there is no disputing where we end up after we've played the games. This ranking is only for ***** and giggles anyway, right?

28-7, and for almost all of the second half it was a 2 score game.

But really, who cares? We lost, and we got pushed around for the first half. Rankings of these teams (Sun Belt teams) is like determining the tallest midget.

Hate to say this, but we were the only Sun Belt team not to lose yesterday, correct?

You know, of course, that I was not saying we should be highly ranked in the SBC.

I actually think Georgia State should be ranked higher than it is. Their QB Nick Arbuckle ranks 4th in the country in passing. They're going to end up beating someone they're not supposed to this season. They just need to get over that mental hump.

What Alphabet are you using that U comes before T?

If you are using the full name of Texas Sate University then you have to use University Of Idaho, University of Lousiana (Lafayette, Monroe), University of South Alabama. Can't mix it. Use the proper names or drop the acronyms, not a combo.
Pisses me off that every conference we've been in Texas State University gets listed after any school whose official name is University of XXX. Yeah, even the SBC does it.

I would rank teams all equal. No one stands out. Maybe put ULM ahead for the win over Wake. Aside from that's it's all FCS wins for the most part and morale victories. Yippee.

GoApps70, I didn't rank the SBC based upon your comment. I ranked them in this order because the OOC games seem to be for bragging rights. The real test is the conference clashes. Now we can get some semblance of order.

I tried to take the word "University" out of the equation when alphabetizing the SBC. You mean we are now arguing about placement on an alphabetized list? This is too funny!
