That comment was absolutely "for nothing."

I doubt USM would beat Abilene.

USM is coming off a "good" game against Alabama, so I think they might have an advantage there. stAte just got beat up again this week and USU will have an ego after beating an ACC team in (admittedly HORRIBLE) Wake.

Thing about stAte is that no one expected us to be any better than 1-2 at this point. The process may not have been pretty...but overall a 2 score loss to Tennessee and a 3 score loss to Miami is as predicted. We actually beat Montana State by far worse than most thought we would.

If we can get healthy...with the home crowd edge, we should be able to beat Utah State. But you just don't know these days.

Poor Cajuns have to go to Boise next week.

FALSE!!!

i remember a thread where it was said that when ya'll scheduled tennessee and miami you 'EXPECT' to be able to win those games. that your team 'expected' to win those games.

i haven't done a search for it but i just chalked it up to typical arky state arrogance which has been in full force for awhile. your fan base might not be as bold as the cajuns but going into this year you dripped with smugness on how great the red woofs are.

hell......you might have been the guy that said it. so nice revisionist expectations amigo.

Geez Beed, you're on the ball here today.

The comment was that Arkansas State fans expect us to win every game we play. And we do. Go venture on our board and witness the thread's calling for a new QB, new PK, criticizing the play calling, saying no one's going to come because we couldn't beat Miami, and you'll quickly see that,

Nationally however, no one gave us a chance in hades to win either game. 1-2 was what was expected.

my bust amigo....i could've sworn you said 'no-one' expected you to win.

i thought it was hubris that your fans 'expected' to win them. i don't fault your players. i want players that believe they can go with anybody.

but i even asked if miami and tennessee knew what kinda asswhoopins were coming their way. iirc none of the red woof faithful said it wouldn't happen.

you gotta remember that arky state talent is head and shoulders above the rest of us poor little direction schools. x-men level talent.

Not every fan believes the same thing. We had a good number who thought we would beat Tennessee, and far fewer who thought we'd take Miami after the Tennessee loss.

Seriously dude? You play in the weakest G5 conference outside of the Scumbelt.
That's okay at least you can find said conference on television instead of having to search for it on the American sports network or Fox Sports Pacific ocean Northwest Atlantic New York City

No smack what so ever but if UAB has a game televised against Alabama A&M then I've got no complaints about our tv package.

I say 35-10 we will see but the Tigers aren't down to 50 scholarship players anymore. We will continue the series if mtsu wants to play a 3 game series with all games at Memphis. Otherwise we will drop you like a bad habbit

Why would we play all 3 games in Memphis? The only habit you will be dropping is losing to us. Even if you win on Saturday, you still got manhandled in this series. And in typical fashion, you guys think you are so much better than reality would indicate.

I LOVE our TV package. I get more C-USA games than ever.

Oh and ACU is a damn good football team FWIW. I simply would not have scheduled one of the highest scoring teams in the country. That was stupid on Troy's part.

Even if its a close game no IA school should lose to Abilene Christian. Anyone with 85 scholarships should have the depth to beat a school with 57 scholarships. ACU won't be full IAA and have a full 63 scholarship limit for another 2 years.

This loss goes on Larry Blakeney, his staff, recruiting and coaching and not the kids in Blakeney's program.

Troy signed 17 kids last year, in those 17, 12 were JUCO's.

I was not condoning the loss. Just stated that they are a good team and in my opinion were stupid for scheduling them. Do like us. Get a SWAC team you can poud and keep the money in state. Also it will help your gate.

Condoning the loss or ACU being good has nothing to do with it. A school with 28 more scholarships should never lose, the depth alone should carry you to a win. If Marshall was going to schedule a IAA school I wish they would schedule an older SoCon school or someone Marshall has had a history with like EKU, Youngstown State or Delaware.

Having 28 more scholarships means you should have a whole other line of depth everywhere and 6 more positions left over. A lot of IA losses to IAA schools is simply the IA schools not preparing for the game. And think they just have to go out on the field to win.

Southern Miss tried the same thing and it almost back fired on them against Alcorn State. A few not so friendly calls in that game and they're in the same position as Troy today.
