Lawyers made us do it.

If the school is a public, state-funded university, then yes, the cross violates the 1st Amendment.

I agree, the debate came whether or not it was wrong because it was meant to honor two former members of the team rather than meant as a Christian Symbol.

I support the honoring of two former members, but yeah, there are alternative, less controversial ways to do it.

I didn't care one way or the other. But naturally the issue caused such a stir in the City of Churches that local radio has been nothing today but non stop debate on this issue, with the nuts on both sides sure to chime in.

Good to see our legal system at work. 04-deal Whether it's right or wrong (according to the constitution), it's sad that people are so horrified by any kind of a symbol Christian or otherwise.

Who's horrified of a Christian symbol?

Oh there were a few who made it very clear they were worried we were forcing religion on their children when they saw that cross during games. You know because religion is slowly destroying humanity and all.

Which of course was solidly followed by the next person who claimed that removing the cross would be denying Jesus Christ himself, and risks exposure to Satan's army.

Jonesboro is a really interesting place to spend time in.

Eh. I expect a more rational, level-headed discussion here than in the Spin Room.

If it gets stupid, I just won't participate.

All we need now is to mention a certain perspective FCS school interested in SBC Membership, and we're golden.

Maybe a couple C-USA fans to assert supposed superiority and SBC fans to argue back.

Even CUSA fans (Well those not named Mathenis at least) are smart enough to stay away from these things.

Isn't Jonesboro known as "the city of churches"?

Yep. We were home for the great Church War (Which I believe was a bunch of Baptists who got angry with each other and used guns to solve the issue) in the 1930's. There is a church on every street corner here...with a bank and a Sonic on every other street corner.

I was wondering why there were crosses on the helmets. Makes sense why they did it and why it won't stay. Hopefully, they honor them in another why.

Blake Anderson is extremely religious. Team attends church services together every Sunday. He made it clear in the beginning that anyone who was uncomfortable with that should come talk to him...no one has.
