RE: Saw in the news there were some nasty brawls at UTEP game
Hell, I'm going to have to make the next UTEP game in El Paso - their fans fight better than my team!

Ok, not really.

I've been going o football games across the nation for many years and I can attest that there are, and have been for many years, flare-ups like this at many games. No "holier-than-thou" attitude coming from my tailgating corner, but we take pride in making the visiting team fans feel welcome and have experienced the same from every campus I've visited except Florida.

Booze, Eagletats, Booze. A game starting at 9 P.M. and you're surely going to have more boozehounds than one starting at 7 p.m. But, like some UTEP poster said, this tailgating area is off the UTEP campus where they can booze it up til they drop.

Exactly. This thread is about an embarrassing incident between older UTEP fans fighting among themselves. His post was a weak trollish attempt of using this opportunity to dump on the UTEP fan base. UTep and UTSA fans bickering at the Sun Bowl has nothing to do with this thread. If that post was made by a regular UTsa member I would not have the issue. He's a mod. He should know better.

I appreciate that statement.

I think everyone knows that threads evolve and go on tangents. I have yet to encounter one, four pages later, still discussing the same issue. Marine's personal experience is germaine to the discussion: safety and violence at UTep tailgates.

I'd agree if it was a regular UTsa fan. I'd expect more from a mod. It's part of the gig.

If only the mod world was so pious and virtuous.

We get cheapshots by one of your mods and we don't call foul. Marine had a legit gripe about personal safety. It's not a cheapshot [not to me] anymore than DXfan's little digs are cheapshots to you.

No one wants this sort of thing to happen. Hopefully the authorities have the video and can prevent this from happening again. At least it was not at the stadium.

For those of you who will use this incident as a reason never to attend a game in El Paso, well you can't go to Los Angeles, Greenville NC, San Francisco, Atlanta or San Diego either. Oh, and stay out of Canada just to be safe. The following just scratches the surface and the last one is my favorite.

Just because I am a mod doesn't mean that I can't have an opinion. If you have a problem with a mod, you should tell another mod about it through a private message. Since you want other people to follow the IUP, you should follow them too.

I was in no way shitting on utep when I was recounting my event. A lot of people in that section saw it. It was a real event.

Walk into ANY stadium wearing the opposing team's (esp rival), and see what happens.

In fact, wear it to any home game your teams hosts.

If someone got cussed out a couple of times within 30-45,000 folks, simple odds tell you it would happen at the best of places.

Security is being added and coordinated with UTEP to prevent a recurrence. Police are going to be driving by more often. I've tailgated there for many years. NEVER had a problem. Sooner or later, some knuckleheads will come up from time to time.
