The announcer, the color guy, for the La Tech vs N Texas game constantly calls the Cajuns, Lafayette. At least call us Louisiana Lafayette since they have another school that goes by Lafayette, Lafayette College Leopards.

I watched exactly 15 seconds of that game. In that time they called UNT the "Green Wave" and I laughed and turned it.

It would be like calling other schools, Austim, Lincoln, Madison, Chapel Hill, Fayetteville, Los Angeles, Knoxville, etc. It would be ridiculous especially for an announcer doing a National game, not too professional. I'm not starting a name battle thing or anything but being on National TV, please call us by our name so that these people on the West coast knows who you talking about. He can call us Louisiana Lafayette. Nobody calls Alabama Birmingham just Birmingham. He can even call us ULL, I don't care but Lafayette for a Nationally telivised game is terrible broadcasting.

Maybe it's best that he screwed it up considering the way we got whipped.. Yea Tech whipped up on those Lafayette Leopards.

I'm done, I know what I call us and that is Louisiana or UL. If you call us by something different that's fine. Majority of the people who are aware of our program know who you are talking about when you say UL or Louisiana.

If they say something other than those two references then they are either doing it on purpose or have no idea who we are.

It's one of those desperate laugh or cry ECU threads. Yes, we beat Rhode Island by 41 points. We beat ECU last year by 31 points. It almost makes you feel sorry for him...almost.

It's just that you would think that someone announcing a National Televised game could get it right when referring to the Cajuns. He could have just called us the Ragin Cajuns or Cajuns for short if he was unsure what to call us.

It's just sad after 15 yrs after our name change, this guy was constantly calling us Lafayette on National TV. I know it was some local guy doing the color for that game, but I'm up here in Boise where they don't know what or where Lafayette is even though we play them next week.

I have my tickets and I hope some Cajun fans will make the trip so I'm not sitting with just my in-laws at the game. One thing you don't have to worry about at games here is rain. We've had 6 inches so far this year.

Sun Belt short hand here. It will always be Lafayette and Monroe to me and several others. I agree that Nationally, its probably not what you want to be called.
