CAA Zone Back Up
The new "upgrade" on the Zone is apparently a blindingly white-on-white motif...

After getting used to this board and its nice skins, I say we use this as our primary board from now on. but might be worth checking both now and again.

Also, if anyone knows of some stragglers who have yet to pop over here, maybe PM them??

I'm 99% with Tribal.

I'll go to pull people over here if necessary, but that's it.

Just no way I can support a board that takes over 2 months to "migrate to a new server".

Oh, and for those that don't know this stuff.

Their story that this is because the caazone is so scary popular and has so many posts is just simply BS.

This is a good point. They claimed to have migrated over a million posts. Now tell me, who here has the time or desire to thumb through a million GMU, ODU, and VCU posts spanning a decade?

Just tell us you're a GMU grad and have no need to run a CAA site for no profit. I'd respect that.

It's not even that. A million text posts, a majority of which are not even a paragraph, just simply isn't that much data in this day and age. Just today I saw a much, much, much larger set of data migrated in 30 minutes.

It's a smokescreen for exactly what you said - they could care less about the site.

Enjoyed my time at the zone, but feel like this board is now an overall better experience. I'm here to stay. The benefit of the zone being up is to encourage frequent posters from the old board to come on over.

Although the amount of space required to save all of Razor Ramon's avatars could be substantial...

Seriously, even factoring in large images and things like that, there's just no way that anything should take months to transfer. Certainly no reason to not have the transfer process figured out ahead of time so that the downtime is minimized.

I'm on the list of people happy to be over here. This seems like a solid site with good mobile support.

What I meant by the millions of pages is that why would they NEED to migrate 10 years of pages from teams no longer associated with the CAA? Like 33 said, three months of excuses.

Also, how nice is it to post on a forum where we don't have to worry about others trolling?

On the other hand, Tribe fans are denied the opportunity to easily "troll" the discussion boards of other teams in the conference, an activity which provides schadenfreude and no end of merriment when our opponents have "problems" with their players or their coaches, which seems to be a regular occurance with many of the "programs" in the CAA.

I get your point, but L33t and I were saying that even doing that migration shouldn't have taken that long unless something else was going on or they just didn't care. I think they lost whatever regulars they had remaining with the layoff.

Oh that site looks terrible, but the damage had already been done. I don't see how it keeps going.

Wow, you weren't kidding! That's absurd! I've never seen that happen before.

Agree that the Zone is toast. I like it here better.

There is a new spam post about every 5 minutes on the Zone. It is dead. However, I think that it still pops up on google searches. The only posts that are unaffected by the spamming are those that are locked or "stickied." I think it will take an admin over there set up a sticky/locked board notifying any new random browser of Tribe chat boards to come over here. Any volunteers?
