For better or worse, with Alabama being represented in the last 5 national title games and 4/5 being won, a case could be made.

So was Florida the capital when Miami and FSU were at the top.

North Alabama is also a historical power. They won 3 NCs in a row in the 90s.

Alabama alone has almost twice as many national championships as Miami and FSU combined. Birmingham is the #1 football market in America. The power shifts, but historically and recently Alabama has as good a claim to being the football capital as any state.

Yes, by two programs. Now Texas and Florida can both say that they have had their share of National Champions including Florida State last season. And when it comes to pure number of quality programs at the FBS level, a stronger case could be made for either state. But I'm sure folks in Alabama will over look that fact.04-rock

Which city in Alabama is it that is home to the college football HOF, the annual kickoff game and a spot in the playoff rotation, I don't recall...

Are we back to market sizes or teams that just play good football? 03-nutkick When is the last time UGA or Tech even came close to sniffing a championship?
