it's a tough sell here in the metro area. untexas struggles to get noticed and smu doesnt have much of a following anymore and even tcu will only sell out if ou or texas are playing here. uta would have to schedule a few name teams at jerry world each year and then take their lumps at maverick stadium against sbc teams who have virtually no following here except for texas state. it would be a money loser and budgets are tight now.

This. On top of that, Arlington is Jerry's town. Anyone with disposable income or time is throwing it at the Cowboys. It is going to be hard to get
"townies" to embrace UTA as their team.

yes, even though arlington has about 400,000 people it is hard to get a large number of them to come out for uta stuff. we would be better off if we were in a small town 100 miles out. as for jerry, as many folks cant stand him as like him. I know old time supporters that would renew their backing if we restarted football but not if we had anything to do with jerry.

Then again, we would not be who we are if we were out in the sticks. With regard to the natural strengths question, Runamuk made a good response, but I was thinking of the advantages to faculty and students of being a large university in a major, growing metropolitan area...of being a research university. It is an exciting campus to be on.

the campus is a real beehive of activity. there is always stuff going on and many people out. not so much when I was a student there. the area around the new arena is like a city..
