some people choose to go to other schools besides UA or AU. Yes, those reasons you listed are the primary ones, but it's possible for people to choose it; I am an example.

Went to USA for undergrad because the location, price, and curriculum suited my needs. There was absolutely no reason to attend UA/AU other than for the hell of it. I am now a grad student at Auburn so USA suited my needs perfectly.

After experiencing some of the anger and vitriol from the UAB people on these boards it's kind of peaked my interest in this sort of underground movement of angry UAB people. It's sort of interesting, and sad really.

Why people would choose the inferior school in a system of non-equals and then complain about their treatment is odd.

They may suck at football but they are hardly inferior academically and there are plenty on non medical ranked programs on that list.

Within the State, you go to UAB if you can't go to UA or AU for whatever reason, if you didn't get in, can't afford it, or can't commute etc.

I went to college to learn not to sit in the student section of byrant denny. I attended UAB because I wanted to not because I had to and I did it before they even had football. this might hurt your head but I picked UAB without football over UA with football

So my hatred began for the fans more for then the program. Having lived in Birmingham for over 10 years now I used to go to UAb games quite a bit, and rooted for the boys in gold and green. But now that I have my own team, finally, I get to have pride in my own program. And with that, I get to have rivalries. UAb is the program I have decided to love to hate. It's simply that. I do feel for you guys as a fan base having to deal with the things that you have to deal with. However, I will use that to my advantage at any time to throw you guys under the bus. Just part of the fun of college sports. Except for when you play an SBC team, I will hope for wins for you guys. Y'all have a long way to go to prove that you deserve your OCS, and as of right now, you haven't proven you deserve it. The "Build it and they will come" scenario just doesn't work for you guys.

Hope that clears things up for you.

GO JAGS!!! BEAT UAb!!!(next year)

Fair enough. I'm one of the older UAB fans as you can see from the photo. 03-old

I cheered for UAB from '81 to '84 and can remember the rivalry we had with USA. It was intense and fun. I'm excited to have WKU, Charlotte and ODU back in the same league to bring back some of the old rivalries. I wish we would play USA every year in both football and basketball.

Apologies for the rude reception you received on the Blazertalk board. Some over there will eat their own.

Good luck this season!

Uh, no but if that's how you want to spin it here so be it.

Looking forward to the two game series.

As far as deserving an on campus stadium we have just as much right as USA, Troy or anyone else.

Will add this to the conversation, UAT is the easiest school to gain admission within the state of Alabama. The quest for 50,000 has eliminated any requirements for entry.

My best friend has arrived. I'll admit, my first post over there was a very direct question about your OCS, or lack of one. It was taken horribly and I tried to make amends. That didn't go over to well, but for anyone that has every spent any time over there, like a UAb fan said earlier, they will eat their own.

As far as deserving an OCS in the eyes of your BoT, you need more then 6k people per game. You guys are in a horrible spot with that, you need better facilities to get better players and coaches, you need better players and coaches to win more games, you need to win more games to get more fans, you need more fans to get better facilities. See the circle you guys are caught in. It is the nature of the beast of the school in which you are a fan. And being a fan of UAb means you are a product of the UA BoT, that is the truth. If you don't like it, pick another school.

That's a great start, but very much an anomaly for you guys. Make that the norm, instead of the exception, and you guys have something.

Congrats on the win by the way, Coach Clark will do you guys good.
