RE: 2014 CFN Bowl Predictions
If it came down to ASU and Troy for Go Daddy and Montgomery. I think we'd get Go Daddy and Troy would go to Montgomery. You have to know the Camelia bowl would love to have the Trojans.

Assuming USA is not in play of course like CFN is saying.

Still no Texas State...

I mean, I can't complain because we were only bowl eligible, and most are picking us 5th in the conference... But still... I wanna see our name mentioned for a bowl.

If the Sun Belt gets in five bowls as some out there predict I think you guys will be in the running for a bowl even if you are not in the top three of the conference race.

Doesn't really bother me not getting mentioned. These bowl projections are probably the most worthless of all projections.....

....OK I'm pi$$ed.

Between the leadership we currently have on the team and how the schedule sets up, I think TXST is built to make a bowl and win. Hope to roll some heads and make the Sun Belt proud. Eat em Up

CFN has really fallen off over the years. Their rankings are so inconsistent.

RE: 2014 CFN Bowl Predictions
definitely have gotten lazy with the full on coverage. I remember by the mid-late october point of 2012 season, they completely stopped writing up their "game recaps/what does it mean" articles they traditionally have done for every single team and conferences for the sunbelt.

The only bowl game I hope the Cajuns play in New Orleans would be the Sugar Bowl. Utah State???? ZZZzzzzz!

I'm not concerned with it's accuracy... I'd just like the publicity.

I think either one would love to have us. I mean Godaddy.com is in our back yard as well. Camelia is closer though. Perhaps this site is predicting we finish higher in the conference than stAte.

Also take into consideration Troy fans would not be spending as much money on hotel rooms and such in montgomery than other SBC schools. The vast majority of Troy fans live in Montgomery or just 1 or 2 hours away tops. That could also be a factor in their decision

I don't know if I should be happy or pissed that we are not mentioned for the GDB. Preseason predictions are worthless but fun to see your name mentioned.

I don't know ... I think Mobile would like to have Troy back and you guys would sellout Montgomery and fill hotel rooms.

It's kind of strange to not even be considered for any bowls considering we are expected to finish with a bowl eligibie record and our stadium even hosts one of the bowls being discussed. But it is a preseason prediction and means absolutely nothing.

USA wasn't mentioned at all either. I find that surprising. We do have a rough schedule, but wins against Kent State, Troy (home), Georgia State (home), Georgia Southern (home), Idaho, Texas State (home) and Appy get us to 7 wins. I think the general consensus at the season beginning is that USA would be at least even money in all of those games. As far as the other games go, we have five games where we will be an underdog, @ ULL, @ Ark State, @ South Carolina, and Mississippi State and Navy at home.

Would even be a huge story if we won at ULL or Ark State or beat Navy at home? Not at this point. And we do get Miss State at home.

I think 7-5 is the most likely result for USA. We'll probably lose to one of the teams we're favored against and beat someone that would be a mild surprise.

But I suspect the bowl prognosticators really don't pay much attention to the Belt

our season is very difficult. not that far of a stretch to imagine we go 6-6 and get left out.

RE: 2014 CFN Bowl Predictions
Anything could happen. Pre season predictions are huge guesses especially in our league.

Troy was picked to win the SBC in 2011 but we went 3-9.

2006 we were picked middle of the pack but finished 1st.

I would think (and I could be so far off base that it's not even funny) that they wouldn't want to invite a home team to the bowl. The rationale being that it won't be as many traveling fans, and therefore, revenues would suffer.

Or is that like number 48 on the list of considerations for a bowl invite?

I just figure a perfect scenario for a bowl is a team like the Cajuns and the NOLA bowl. Close enough to be easily drivable and therefore high turnout, but far enough that hotel stays are warranted.
