Here is a suggested updated thread subject/title.
OT: MAC gets ESPN Deal worth 10M/yr 2017-2027 with added Basketball Coverage

I'll just go with New Deal right now since figures are not locked down. Should be something everyone can live with.

Not exactly. Its still a 13 year deal, its just structured a little different than what was originally announced. Instead of $8m/yr for 13 years its $8m a year for 3 years then a bump up to $10m/yr for the final 10 years.

All told it will be approx. $124m for 13 years.

Yes correct.

The MAC signed a 9 figure deal with ESPN that is almost as large in value as what they gave the AAC (140 mil). Dividing that total by years and schools is less important than looking at the overall $$$ commitment layed out.

CUSA has an agreement worth $80 million for Fox and CBS. They might be able to get $100 million with a 10 year agreement from Fox. SBC if it can hold onto its membership might be able to get ESPN to dip in for 50-60 mil for 10 years. In the SBC's case that money might be a few years down the road yet since they are signed out to 2020 with ESPN in a micro deal.

kittonhead - how have you been a UMass fan for a couple of months when you have always been, and still seem to be an Ohio fan?

Sun Belt will hopefully get the biggest and best ESPN deal when they rework it. Do not care how large it is as long as all the posters have a mild heart attack and salivate into their keyboards when announced. Time for "Dogs and Cats Living Together" days.

RE: OT: MAC Gets New Deal from ESPN
It's a good deal for the MAC, sort of current deal extension plus cost of living adjustment. They obviously are more interested in continuing their niche as "Pabst Blue Ribbon" tv league and have decided that the impact on the fanbases isn't that big of a concern.

Not sure we can go that type of route due to the cultural differences.

So the question is, what exactly is the SBC identity we are looking for as far as tv goes? How do you structure a deal that fits? Who can you do it with? And what is it worth?

I don't even know the answer to question one.

The SBC should go coast 2 coast and try and get out of CUSA's shadow as their starter conference.

NDSU, Missouri State is the way to go.
