This! I could care less until we play them. I don't pull for most competitors but I will usually pull for the underdogs which in most cases will be the SBC team. In conference, no one pulls for any program unless they looking down at them in the standings.
Hmmm. I was certainly pulling for Louisiana against Arkansas....and I was about ready to wring Hudspeth's neck in the Florida game. We were all rooting for the Cajuns in baseball at the NCAA.
We need a strong league. We spent a long time with North Texas and Troy dominating a weak league and no matter what they did...it didn't much matter because the league was viewed as weak.
Like it or not, we need the whole conference to win OOC. It's critical to our own school's success.
I'm surprised at how hard that is to understand.

RE: Conference rivalry aside we need to pull for each other
Rivalries aside, I am also pulling for a giant meteor NOT to slam into the earth, since we are all in the same conference (humans.) Worst case scenario, I will be PULLING for Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck as they drill into the meteor and drop a nuke. (However if Aerosmith starts playing in the background I withdraw my support.)
Seriously. Pulling, rooting for, crossing fingers, etc has ZERO impact on the outcome of any game and it does not matter, in any way, shape, form, or fashion if we pull for our conference brethren. Or if we "let them die!"
Yes, out of conference wins "help" the Sun Belt. I get it.
Yes, I will be a generally happier college football fan if good things happen for my team/conference.
If your team does something impressive, I will be impressed by it and likely mention it on the board.
But really, that's what is being discussed here. People want fans of other teams to say nice things about their team. TO SAY NICE THINGS. To HOPE for them to win. There's nothing wrong with being supportive, everyone needs it from time to time. But we are fans. On a board. I don't feel the need to partake in a verbal circle-jerk with regard to OOC games. As I said, impressive/important wins will be duly recognized and celebrated. Good luck.
I'm ROOTING for my parents not to get Alzheimer's in the future. Sadly thats about as useful as pulling for stAte to beat Tennessee. If those things happen, I will be happy.

Anyone could do what you mention. Many of us are trying to get some unification in the SBC to help each other. GaSt needs that more than most.
What kind of "help" are you referring to? Online polls? Sharing article links on Facebook? Helping with exposure is the only thing a fan can do. On the field? On the TV? Yeah, not so much.

It's an absolutely unique circumstance and if you don't pull for the conference in OOC games your heads in the sand. I honestly could have cared less with the exception of App who won OOC games until now. I hate everybody but GS but if a conference member is playing OOC I'll have my damn game face on.
Good because I hate GaSo. My niece a GS alum is staying with us for a week I bought her all sorts of Cajun gear and she loves it. She said she will wear Cajun gear as long as we are not playing each other. I said good I got you for two years because the conference gave your school a two year pass on playing the two best teams of the last couple of years in the SBC. But I will watch GS and all conference teams if televised and I'm available.

RE: Conference rivalry aside we need to pull for each other
Yeah, I know I shouldn't be commenting on this board, but I read it regularly and comment occasionally. Other than my own conference, the SunBelt is my second favorite conference, and unless you are playing a C-USA school, I hope you win every OOC game you play. I also know that if you do, it will feed the "mine is bigger" argument between our two conferences, but I actually think that's a fool's errand, so I don't play that game. We'll both do better if one of some of schools gets into the national conversation.
Here's to a successful season to both C-USA and SBC.

I don't think it's hard for anyone to understand, they just can't bring themselves to support a program that is a serious rival. I'm surprised at how hard that is to understand.

Hmmm, were we not the underdogs in that game? So what part of I usually pull for the underdog statement did you not comprehend? What happened after we beat State? Okay, lets move on.

I know conference bragging rights and money are on the line, but I will always root for Sun Belt teams over P5 competition.

RE: Conference rivalry aside we need to pull for each other
It's not really so much about rooting for wins (because as noted, it's not going to help or hurt the team)... But to me, it's about anytime I'm at a bar on college football saturday (or tuesday or thursday), I want to make sure the bar is putting Sun Belt games on.
I want folks in our respective areas to know that when they watch Sun Belt football, they are watching the best G5 has to offer. Which means, in an indirect way, I'm pulling for Sun Belt teams to do well OOC.

Well yes, but that is not a surprise since you have pulled for McNeese State in the past as well. That is something no Cajun fan would ever do!

It's the Sun Belt against the world, so just like in the Army if
someone is attacking a guy in my squad I am going to root for
them to blast the heck out of whoever is attacking him and us.

Brain damage or just plain stupid? One thing for sure is you have no class. I hope you are just a fan and not an alumni.
