Thinking of visiting San Marcos this season??
Playing with Google maps this afternoon, created this "visitors guide" for San Marcos. There are 3 layers you can turn on and off: recreation and tourist spots, parking and tailgating, and bars and restaurants. I can put more spots on the map and/or more information (prices, suggestions, etc.) on the spots already listed, if ya'll are interest.

If you are playing TXST on the road I'd recommend fans go check it out. Nice place.

Our group from Houston will attend.....disappointed as hell that they moved it to Tuesday night. We have a huge group of Alumni in Houston and along with the fans in Louisiana would have brought a few thousand to the game had it remained a Saturday match up.

I might fly into Dallas to meet up with my old roommate and drive down for the game. Hopefully I can pull it off.

Bit of a haul from Dallas, but I understand. Make sure you stop by West for a kolache along the way.

Ya that's at least a 3 hour drive, probably closer to 4 hours now due to construction on I-35. Yes, you must stop in West for some kolaches.

Trust me. We are super disappointed in getting y'all at home on a Tuesday. Had the potential to be the best attended game of the year if it was a Saturday.

But awesome map tx.state. Out of town guest, if you want to make an extended trip out of it. Nearby towns wimberley and new braunfels are always a good time. Also about an hour away is Fredericksburg which is basically texas wine country with more than 15 or so wineries in a 10 mile radius. That's a helpful fact if your wife/gf needs a little more convincing for a weekend trip. But San Marcos is beautiful and you will fully enjoy it if you can make the trip. The booze and the the river never stop flowing in San Marcos.

Coming from a Czech, West kolaches are garbage, but I guess non Czechs aren't so picky when it comes to kolaches. Either way it's something to Czech off the things to do in Texas list!

Wife and I enjoyed some live music at Gruene hall on our last trip to play at Texas State in an early season baseball tournament. The weather for the games was horrible, but it was lovely in hall. 04-cheers

San Marcos Visitors Guide - 2014 Football Season

Do you mind if I link this inside my Google Docs on Transportation To/From SB locations. This would be a great start on the "Best of" for each location.

If you do allow me to link this what sort of credit do you want?

Here is the link to the online doc. Someone from Texas State did some work on this already filling in some details and the Best of, which may or may not match what you have.

Pretty good list of best of in San Marcos. I'd add best bar: which is a tie between bar 141(if you wanna see/partake in some groovin), barfish, and green parrot. Also gumbys pizza is fantastic.
