I don't think that is necessarily true.

I'd say the majority of P5 fans aren't graduates of any 4 year college.

I've always felt that was true.

Its certainly true in the SEC. Schools like Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee are famous T-Shirt schools.

Alumni drive donations.

Walmart fans drive TV viewership.

RE: BIG Question about P-5 exclusively scheduling P-5 opponents
These are good questions that I've been wondering myself. Will they change the game so radically that the average fan will lose interest over time? Will 8-4 or 7-5 teams vying for the national championship fascinate the average fan as much as having two undefeated teams going for the perfect season? We already get that on Sundays. How about parity among teams with 100 scholarship players apiece? Tread carefully when tinkering with something there's nothing wrong with.

There are a lot of boring P-5 games.
Just no interest. Same with some G-5 games.
Think the biggest reason I watch a game is if
I have some interest in it. Conference interest,
regional interest or from something else like
a great player, or good defense.

I don't think that is necessarily true.

I think a large portion of P5 fans are probably people that didn't even attend college or perhaps did but to a school that doesn't even have Division I football.

this is the line of thinking that i am having. if you cut off the entire G5, then you really cut off most of the reasons for interest in P5 games for all the G5 fan bases.....i dont know what % that represents of the current viewership, but a 25-40% drop in viewership would be significant.

RE: BIG Question about P-5 exclusively scheduling P-5 opponents
Viewership assumptions:

30% P5 graduates
10% G5 graduates whose first team is a P5
15% G5 graduates whose first team is a G5
15% FCS graduates whose first team is a P5
5% FCS graduates whose first team is an FCS program
25% 2 years of college or less.

I'd say these are conservative (as in they are likely higher for the P5 leaning fans).

I'll buy those numbers with one exception. There are more P5 fans that went to a G5 school than there are G5 fans that went to that particular G5 school.

RE: BIG Question about P-5 exclusively scheduling P-5 opponents
Roughly only 25 percent of the adult population has a college degree (maybe now as high as 30 percent), so the odds are that the vast majority did not attend a P5 school.

Still, TV execs probably are more worried about not where they got a degree (or didn't), only that they have eyeballs, a remote, and a willingness to watch.
