You know as well as I do what moves the meter in Atlanta. Our attendance would be just fine hosting NC State.

ODUs is a 2-1 but still good for a new football program.
2014 at NC State
2015 NC State
2016 at NC State
Marshall now has 3 P5 schools coming to Huntington in the near future and still have a few open dates through 2018. Although they could be full just not announced.
2015 Purdue
2016 Louisville (Sorry I still see Louisville as what they were just a few short years ago)
2018 NC State
The thing I like about our AD he has said there will be very few if any buy games. He said those games are set up for failure and for the poorest of the poor schools. He has also said from day 1 when he started no 2-1 deals. If they can't do 1-1 then we don't need to play them.

Agree entirely with Marshall AD about, "If they can't do 1-1 then we don't need to play them." A 2-1 normally would give up too much for what you are receiving. Hope we maintain that same philosophy.

Congrats, good money capture game Georgia State.
Especially a pretty good price for a bus trip probably.

Wonder why they have not done that with us. Got the feeling it's only because we are instate.
GaSo plays them in Raleigh this year also.
NC State plays @ USA next year.
ODU basically became a 2-1, they agreed to a another @NCSU in 2016. Rumor is NCSU will be buying out the South Alabama game since they have @ODU and @USA. I would expect the same for Troy since they play at @ND in 2017. Typically, NCSU plays 7 home games.
Side note, I wish we drop the FCS games for more of the SB, CUSA and MAC games. I much rather watch those games.
We will take a cool mil for the game. I would rather play the game though. We've feared NC State would buy out this game for a while, but so far we've not heard anything to indicate it would happen. I thought I heard that NC State would honor this game because they weren't in a financial situation to buy out of it?
The former NCSU AD scheduled this series. There is no money issue, NCSU did the same thing to Central Michigan a few years ago. A 7th home game and avoiding the travel costs would cover the costs of the buy out and getting another team. I would be shocked if the buyout was a high as you say. CMU was only $350K when bought out in 2013. I would assume it would be a similar price.
I asked about this on the USA board and was reminded how we just rescheduled the date for NC State. We were supposed to open with them next year but we changed the date so that they could add a game. I wouldn't think they would up and cancel now, when they could have easily done it at that time instead of rescheduling the date.
And while it might not have been financial trouble, NC State could be in for a scheduling nightmare if they constantly bail out like that. They will find scheduling harder and harder to come by as other teams are leery of them.
