Not good. The last two year's we've had terrible weather luck.

In 2012 our season opener against UTSA was moved last minute due to Hurricane Isaac on a holiday weekend. The Nicholls State game that followed it was on a rainy day. The Troy game after that was an absolute monsoon. There were thousands of people that stayed in their tents and never even came inside the stadium because of the rain.

Last year we had broken scanners for game 1 against Southern Utah (actually had good attendance for it too). It rained the day of the Kent State game. The ULM game was in the 40's with wind gusts in the 20 mph range. The Louisiana Lafayette game was in the 40's and upper 30's with wind gusts in the 15-20 mph range. Not fun games to sit in.

I think this year stands to be a big year. I just hope we finally get a string of good weather for a change.

So unless it's sunny and 75 most people in Mobile couldn't care less about your football team?

What I'm saying is we've had bad weather luck so who knows what attendance would have been, particularly for the 2012 Troy game. Despite weather we've averaged 16,360 the past two years. To put it in perspective, Alabama State averaged 14951 over the past two years.

Skully, don't give him a seat on the front porch. MSU will be a sell out along with Navy. Let him hate but impress us by having Troy sell their 3,700 ticket allotment.

Yeah....I couldn't figure out why he was spewing hate at South. Figured he was a closet Troy fan.

What if it's 95 and humid? Will they all stay home then too?

Alabama St?

I would say there was about 5-6k MSU fans plus their Pep band at Troy 2 years ago. We had 29,013 in attendance.(stadium holds 30k) Ill be pretty shocked if USA has 40k in attendance.

we had 24,321 for Navy that same year with even less Navy folks than MSU.

Couldnt have asked for better weather for either game.

I expect a Similar number for Duke this year as Navy in 2012.

Who knows. A report on al.com today stated only 3,000 sideline seats remain for the MSU game, but there were endzone seats available. I don't know what FJ is thinking... We will get a bump from Navy, but it won't be a sell out.

And the single game tickets don't go on sale until Monday so if not a sell out it'll be close.

Not so sure about that...I don't believe Idaho can hold that many, NMSU will need a big bump up in attendance, and although GaSt definitely can average that much, but unless they become conference champs, I don't see 23K-24K average.

On the flipside, Louisiana, App, and stAte are probably going to be the only ones who will average over 30K. I think Texas State can, but will require more winning and marquee matchups in that beautiful stadium of theirs.

You are correct with Idaho but I'm betting they will not be in the conference another three years. Attendance will grow not so much about who you play but how you play. We will have good teams in this conference that fans will want to see. Great teams will help but attendance will increase because of the conference fans first.

I really have no clue but I will say this.
I live in Pensacola and you all know about the Navy presence here.
When I am out on the weekend wearing my Jag stuff, I get everything from retirees to young folks in uniform asking about the game.
The retirees, I give our ticket phone line. The younguns get the website info.
It gets advertised on the radio all the time over here. They mention Miss State, Troy, and Navy.

There may be a bigger bump from Navy than expected.
It sounds like word of mouth out at NAS Pensacola has drummed up a buzz.

There are around 2,500 tickets left on the sideline seats. Not sure how many end zone seats are left. Should be close to 40,000

Skully, it depends on what kind of season we have on the field. The Navy game possibly could be a sellout if we've had a successful season. If we're 5-6 or 6-5 we may not sell out the Navy game.

There are a lot of Miss. State fans in Mobile and Baldwin Counties, along the Mississippi Gulf Coast and in NW Florida that will probably go to Mobile for this game.

My Attendance Predictions for TXST Home Games. First number is predicted record going into the game.

0-0 (W) 8/30/2014 Saturday 6PM - Arkansas Pine Bluff (23,250)
1-0 (L) 9/13/2014 Saturday 7PM - Navy (28,900)
2-2 (W) 10/4/2014 Saturday TBA - Idaho (19,900)
3-2 (L) 10/14/2014 Fukin Tuesday 7PM - ULL (20,500)
5-3 (W) 11/8/2014 Saturday TBA - GA Southern (17,600)
6-4 (W) 11/20/2014 Thursday 8:30PM - John Thompson's Ex (24,500)
Average: 22,441

We may be hurt by the first weekday game in terms of attendance but I think going into the Thursday game against stAte with 6 wins(bowl eligibility) would be a boost to attendance. These numbers are assuming cooperation from the weather which we have had some issues with in the past especially on the dates of some would be larger attendance draws. Hopefully our home attendance this year can help break the Sunbelt avg attendance record.

Disclaimer: I may be a little bit over optimistic due to my diehardedness.

Awfully low attendance prediction for the GS game. What not a lot of interest, or the time of the year for some reason.

I dont think there will be much name recognition from the typical dumb student population despite the big upset last year. You also have to understand TXST's unbelievably unloyal fanbase. Our homecoming game last year vs South Alabma (I would assume an unfamiliar name due to early nature of program with our student base) drew a crowd of just over 18,000...announced. Taking that into account you may realize how optimistic I am about getting butts in seats at these game. The AD appears to have stepped up there game so far during training camp this year though so I'm hoping everything comes together this season.

By the way, that South Alabama game was a memorable one to be at. TJ to Ben Ijah, Hopefully those two names get called together a lot this year. On the topic of South Alabama, I am 100% jealous of there acronym. USA! USA! USA! anyway...back on topic...

Interesting that teams see such a huge fluctuation in attendance within the G5 ranks.

At App the attendance fluctuates much more with the weather than the opponent.

Jags fans love the USA acronym as well. The USA vs. Navy game is being called America's game. It will be fun when the Navy fans are chanting USA! USA! USA! with us. It happened last year in Knoxville with Tennessee fans next to us and they couldn't help but join in. Pretty funny!!
