I guess we're all posting our school's non-conference games now that they're being announced. Here's Miami's:
11/8: Edinboro (exhibition)
11/16: Southern Utah
11/19: Evansville
11/22: Liberty
11/25: Northwestern (Cancun Challenge)
11/26: Northern Iowa/Virginia Tech (Cancun Challenge)
11/30: Elon
12/3: Dayton
12/6: @ IPFW
12/14: @ Wright State
12/17: Longwood
12/22 or 23: @ Ohio State (Nationwide Arena)
12/29: Capitol
1/3: UMKC
Random thoughts/comments:
1. I love the amount of home games on the schedule. Since Miami has a six-week winter break, I'm glad that most of them were scheduled before the end of finals on the fifth. Last year we only had two home non-conference games while classes were in session.
2. A buy-game at Ohio State is likely to be announced at some point.
3. I'm glad to see us in some kind of preseason tournament.
4. The Evansville, IPFW, Wright State, and UMKC games are return games from last year. Dayton is the first game of a home-and-home (and the timing couldn't be better to play them).
5. We're playing six games in two weeks, beginning with Liberty and ending with IPFW. That'll be a tough stretch, although we have much more depth this season to run our press.
6. This is a very weak schedule, a far cry from the classic Charlie Coles death marches. Our strategy seems to be to win easier matchups and bring our fan base back, though I would've preferred to see us play at a low-level P5 school (i.e. BC, TCU, Washington State) during winter break instead of a low-major like Longwood.
7. I think I might crawl myself into a fetal position if we lose to Capital, another DIII school.
