RE: App State named the most affordable public university in the south!
I have to say as much as I loathe our former president for his lack of support for the athletic programs, he was great at keeping the academic bottom line in good standing. That's a goodly portion of why we're in the process of unprecedented building program for new dorm space, campus building renovations, parking garage construction, student union being almost completely rebuilt, and other campus beautification projects at a cost of about 250 million. That doesn't include any athletic work already built or planned. They are also looking at a mixed use university property with businesses and living space near the athletic complex in conjunction with the city of Lafayette that would be unreal. It's a exciting time to be a Cajun fan and alumnus.

It did in Ga, GaSou like most schools in the state had a huge deficit to deal with a few years ago, we all made it. Like any govt entitiy there is a ton of waste and non needs that can be eliminated if they really feel the pain.

The undergraduate bubble has yet to burst.

Yep. This is a great state to be in for affordable, high quality education (at least at the collegiate level).

We are also actually ranked in the top 10 for k-12 I believe we are 7th in the nation for educational efficiency

Choppy, that is one thing a Pirate and Wolfpacker can agree on, we are Blessed to have so many affordable universities in NC. I would be proud of any of my children to go to these fine schools. Well, not sure about craple hole. 04-cheers

One of my kids just spent three weeks on App State's campus doing a summer program and I had a chance to check out the campus and surrounding area. Not related to this article but just want to mention to the App alumni reading this thread that I was very impressed by the campus and the town of Boone on a couple of recent visits.

I loved Boone so much, I bought a vacation home in the area 23 years after leaving App. I come up here so often, my wife gets mad at me, I think it's just jealousy.
