In all sincerity I hope this scenario plays out just like 2007, App beats Michigan and then Georgia Southern beats App. 03-cool

Think the ratings would be good for the App State -vs- Georgia Southern game on what, a Thursday night? Imagine would be a big to do for the SBC no matter what some posters have said @ us newbies.

Kind of an interesting write up on:

http://www.appfans.com/

Memories … here are a few.

Jerry Moore, then-Appalachian State coach: “Most of the people refer to games like that as money games … but every once in awhile, I’ll stumble around and say something that’s got some substance to it and, from that time on, I referred to it as an opportunity game.”

Ryan Van Bergen, U-M true freshman defensive lineman: “Anyone that told you they thought we had a chance at losing that game is lying. There wasn’t anyone on that team that thought we even had a remote chance of losing.”

Jenny McCoy, U-M freshman fan: “All anyone talked about was how good Michigan was and how it was going to be the best season ever, and everyone thought it was going be a big deal, and I remember how quickly things turned.”

Rauch: “We got there the day before, had a walkthrough, and coach (Moore) made a quick point. ‘Guys, this is Michigan. It’s a great place, but all it is more concrete around their field than our field.’ He downplayed it as much as possible.”

Dexter Jackson: “I knew it was really big after I scored the first touchdown and (fellow receiver Hans Batichon) ran up to me and said, ‘You just scored on Michigan.’

Brandon Graham, U-M defensive lineman: “I remember the quarterback talking a little bit. Because I used to always say, ‘I’m about to come get you.’ And he was like, ‘Ain’t no fat boy coming to catch me.’”

Especially if GSU also beat NCSU.

Wonder what the ratings usually are for a G5 Thursday night game. Probably being the only game on a lot of football fans would be interested in this game and if not they would not likely be interested in any other G5/SB matchup either. When App and GS tie up you can throw out the stats and the records. Our SB conference mates will soon see that us newbies get after that a... pretty good.

I'm just verifying. Ya'll don't have much luck with that. Surprised there isn't an alumni service taking care of that.

I hate to bring this up but even though we may be the only college game that night, we are up against the Giants-Redskins game.

The Wolverines were ranked No. 5 in the preseason. The offensive leaders returned to school, with tackle Jake Long, quarterback Chad Henne and tailback Mike Hart putting off the NFL for a year. The defense had lost most of the pieces that dominated in 2006: defensive end LaMarr Woodley, linebacker David Harris and cornerback Leon Hall, yet no one expected much of a fight in this game. That was the perfect scenario for the first-year Big Ten Network, which needed a kick-start, especially given the public relations beating incurred from few major carriers agreeing to carry it at its Aug. 30 launch.

If Appy State wins then Michigan should have to play a home game at Appy St.

I suggested that before the first game. Doubt we would have played in Boone though, probably rent Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte to sell more tickets.
