Am sure your AD and administration all knew that the presidents had to vote on it. No offense but sounds like a real stretch.
Still wouldn't be surprised to see UMass in the Belt for awhile.

This kind of disproportionate revenue sharing amongst equal members of the same league is criminal.
Why wouldn't we be happy? We all know how to do what we do with less than they get and there always has been and always will be a disparity. The only way that changes is the courts or Congress do something or on an individual level you build your program up and another expansion grabs you into the P5.

Five times the money is five times the money. We can hire great coaches at our level and recruiting is not a science. Get the right coach, evaluate well and use your increased resources wisely and you can be the next TCU.

Why wouldn't we be happy? Because the increase in crumbs does not change our position at all, in spite of your sunny day optimism. Hiring good coaches has never been a problem for the G5, RETAINING good coaches is the issue. The 5x increase is irrelevant because it does not change the power dynamic in the slightest.

TCU is a not a model for success for the G5. They are a private, religious institution in a top 5 market with a history of major conference affiliation, nothing about their past or present situation is relatable to 99.9% of G5 programs.

Hoping and praying that the P5 gods bestow you with good fortune is a fool's errand, instead of smiling and nodding along when someone says we've got it better we need to be angry and remind them that this creation of two classes within the same league is unholy and unjustified.

It's a step.

It doesn't change the overall dynamic but it can help us improve facilities and do some other things.

At some point your athletic program has enough cash and having additional cash has diminishing returns. They are already building waterfalls and golden locker rooms and paying coaches outrageous salaries and watching video boards the size of the stadium.

What are you going to do? Build a video board twice the size of the stadium? Pay the coach an even more outrageous salary? Build a waterfall on top of your waterfall? Platinum jock straps? At some point it becomes such ridiculous revenue that the state will come after it....or the university will start siphoning it off.

But for us, we can use the extra to get our video boards closer, our locker rooms a little closer, our stadiums a little closer...to what they enjoy.

One step at a time.

Wrong. Our position has changed. We will increase the gap between the G5 and the elite FCS programs. We will have more resources to allow us to maintain our position in the most visible college athletics division that exists. If you are expecting the day to come where someone levels the playing field with the P5 conferences then you are always going to be unhappy.

The alternative was to split and fend for ourselves and it is a possibility down the road. We don't want that and neither does the P5. We are looking at the best outcome that we could have expected, not wanted.

No. Each League receives 12 million guaranteed, with the remaining 15 million being split amongst the leagues based on performance. A final bonus amount will go to leagues for keeping schools within the APR Guidelines, and a 6 million dollar bonus goes to the league that plays in the contract bowl game.

I know expenses rise with a jump to the FBS. We added a womens rifle and will be adding womens golf for Title IX and 20 more full schollies but I really dont see the expenses rising any where near to the amount of what we will and or potentially get from that payout structure alone. Forget about increased conference payout, higher attenandance, corp sponsors etc. GaSou like ULM is a master at accomplishing more with less. I am beyond super excited to see what GaSou can do without some real money for once. I cant believe we still have three or four posters on our board that still think the FCS is the place to be when you see the money and voting power compared to what the FCS gets. This goes well beyond being able to field competitive football this kind of stuff affects your swimming and diving team. We all want to be in a P5 for sure but every member of this conference should thank their lucky stars they are in FBS conference especially one with that is only going to get exponentially better unlike basically all the other G5's.

This. As an appraiser I am astonished to see someone other than another appraiser fully understand the term "diminishing returns". The money gap between AL, UT, OSU etc and the typical or even top level G5's is huge but the competiveness on the field is way smaller. At some point which most top level P5's are at there is really nothing more you can do. Pay Nick Saban a billion dollars and have a video board you can see from space, you still are going to not get much better talent or vastly better record than Auburn that spends half as much. AL and UT are perfect examples of this concept lately. I use the example of putting a gold toliet to homeowners all the time. You can put a solid gold toliet in your bathroom but the return on value is about zero. Mainly the pool example is enough but you have to go to extremes sometimes for people to understand basic economic concepts.

you are right about tcu. they had a long history of playing in a big time conference until the power schools in the conference wanted to shed the lower rung schools. much like what happened in the wac. they did not start from scratch from the g5 or fcs level. the big success story would have to be boise. they came out of nowhere.

Sub Louisville for TCU if that makes you happier. Boise was within an inch of doing it as well.

Louisville has been in a BCS/P5 conference since 2005. Back then the Big East was a bridge for non-AQ schools to join an AQ conference. That bridge has been obliterated.

Rutgers, Utah, and Louisville are terrible examples. All in very big metro areas with big money boosters and corporations behind them.

Sub Louisville for TCU if that makes you happier. Boise was within an inch of doing it as well.
Louisville has been in a BCS/P5 conference since 2005. Back then the Big East was a bridge for non-AQ schools to join an AQ conference. That bridge has been obliterated.
Where were they before they joined the Big East? What about Rutgers? Utah?

Rutgers, Utah, and Louisville are terrible examples. All in very big metro areas with big money boosters and corporations behind them.
Nobody said that it was possible for every team but every time you throw up an excuse there is an example of how it can be done. The real point is that there is only one way and several teams have done it. For everyone who doesn't have the ability to move to P5 if there is more expansion, what is the point of crying about it? Want to move to FCS?

RE: CFB Conference Pay Rising: MAC, SBC, CUSA, MWC AAC to share $75 Mil
I don't get all the complaining from some G5 fans. We are getting a lot more money that we were not guaranteed or necessarily in a position to demand. Our share as a percentage of the whole pie is going up. Upset because we don't get something close to equal footing with the P5 conferences? Get over it and work to make your program and conference better. Stop tearing down your own conference and your peers and work together.
