I have never seen that before. 5 new football commits this weekend, and now 17 total already for 2015.

We stole one from La Tech, so that one would have automatically made it a good weekend, but 5 is incredible.

Great job by our coaches so far.

Nice! I'm a little jealous.

I think it was downgraded to four. Regardless a great night. 16 or 17 commits this time of year for stAte is virgin territory I think.

At one point, we had 16 available spots, but we've had Five transfer out in the past couple months as coaches have started trying to find schools for the players who didn't fit in. Throw in Bryce Giddens retiring from football for medical reasons, and you've got another free scholarship

That should give us 22 or 23 spots at least by the time signing day comes around. You are right though, we'll have to put people on standby if things keep up. I imagine a couple of these guys might get P5 offers if they have a good senior season, so obviously keeping all 17 would be difficult.

I believe we have 25 spots for this class, and we received 2 commitments this weekend to push us to 13 total. so im thinking we are getting into that standby number real soon. if we have the kind of season we want/expect to have, it would be wise to have 7-8 spots open. especially with all the high school talent in Louisiana.

We will likely sign a full 25 in this class. We only lose a few key contributors and there will be the normal attrition.

RE: stAte receives 5 verbal commitments this weekend.
This ASU staff is probably as good as any G5 staff when it comes to recruiting, which is job #1 thru #5 in college football.

Several outstanding recruiters on the staff, but the biggest recruiting haul was when they landed Trooper Taylor, who is as good a recruiter as there is in college football. He is a game changer, and ASU has already reaped the rewards of having him help put together last years class. He was instrumental in them landing some impact players that SBC fans will be talking about for the next few years.

ASU has the most talented roster of players in the SBC, and probably more star players than anyone, and I don't look for that to change under this staff. In fact it should get even better.

Now the question is can they coach?

Give the kid a break. He was initially dazzled by all that talk of market size and prestige.

Y'all better slow Trooper down or a p5 is going to grab him before signing day.

Very nice and naturally the five new ones do not show up on the ESPN page. Don't see any offensive line men. Perhaps your covered there or will be targeting a few.

Have to assume there was a big recruiting event this weekend. Ours is a clambake next weekend.

His son is enrolled early at ASU, and is currently #2 at a corner position. His daughter is also enrolling in the local school so that might keep him a little longer than you would expect.

That and the fact that he has had so much success as a recruiter that there have been persistent allegations that he must be cheating.

However they got him, he is a game changer for ASU.

Most of their commits, even those where other coaches were the primary recruiters, mention that Trooper played a big role in their decision. These are all good players, and although some G5's now back off when a player commits to ASU, most will be picking up more offers as the recruiting cycle goes along. Nothing unusual there.. What was unusual is that those who got the late big-time offers last year, and a lot of their signing class did, stuck with ASU.

I think he'll coach at ASU before he goes elsewhere. JMO
