OT - Boomer White transfers to A&M
TCU's best hitter (?) Boomer White is transferring to A&M. I don't know if he has to sit out a year but he should unless there is some hardship involved (and from the press release, it certainly didn't sound that way).

Yeah, heard about this last week. Apparently, it took TCU totally by surprise. The Horn Frogs have some elite pitchers returning (most notably Morrison, Alexander and Farrell), but absolutely no offense returning. Their top 4 hitters are gone, and they didn't exactly have a potent offense this past season. I'm scratching my head at why both Kendall and Fitt consider TCU Omaha material in 2015, but not the Owls. We have even more proven pitching returning than they do, and we have far more offense.

You know they make their evaluations based on pro-ball projectability. How high does X recruiting class rank over Y?

I would also say experience at having made Omaha this past year would give them a plus over us. The run in the 2000's by the Owls definitely benefited by young players being in Omaha but playing a limited amount. When they became sophs/jrs/srs that experience I think helped them.

Wonder what caused this move....

Thank you TCU, it's been a great ride. I'm excited what God has in store for me and my family in years to come.

Comment from a TCU blog:
Quote:A&M is 12k, TCU is 40
Boomer was only on 1/4 scholarship. Cron was the only guy with a full ride.
I'm not sure those numbers are current but the gist is correct.
Obviously cost is also a factor for Rice in equivalency sports.

Rice recruited him really hard. Some of the Memorial dads were friends of his family, but it never worked out.

Did the Aggies recruit him hard initially? Or did they assume that with the family history at A&M he was a lock?

I have followed him since he was 4, when I first saw him hit one over a fence.
He was recruited just about everywhere.
It would be inaccurate to call it an Aggie family. His younger brother is going there, but just a freshman to be.
To me, it feels like a financial deal, with a twist, but I haven't talked to the family
Boomer was draft eligible this year but didn't get picked.
Either his family and he have decided that he is unlikely to be drafted (perhaps due to diminutive stature, lack of HR power, or whatever; his college numbers are far superior to his HS teammates Carter Burgess and Wayne Taylor, but both of those guys got drafted.) and just didn't want to invest all of that money in TCU tuition;
Or, they are hoping for a follow-and-sign situation out of summer ball this year or next, but have TAMU as a fall back
