If Georgia Southern loses to Savannah State I could foresee their players
trying hard to drown themselves in beautiful Eagle Creek. Which would be
hard to do.

Yeah, it's Bleacher Report but in Georgia Southern's case I think picking our trap game as NMSU is the right call. We've won just three games west of Monroe, Louisiana since we restarted football, and always seem to be a bit off schedule when playing above sea level by a couple of thousand feet +.

I think Las Cruces is a little higher elevation than Boone, and that might just be enough of a factor if the game is close.

Liberty is definitely a trap game for App. If we don't watch out we could get a big old plate full of embarrassment, a la Charleston Southern. You know those guys will be wanting to make a statement to the Sun Belt. A team with something to prove is a dangerous bunch.

I say this now: Should you lose to Liberty this coming season, I will never let any fan of App State forget it.

A loss to Liberty is unacceptable! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!

You mean like you guys lost to Southeastern Louisiana, Northwestern St. (LA) and Central Arkansas a couple of years ago.

If App loses to Liberty, we will never hear the end of it from the Liberty fans.

Nope. Totally different.

Mainly because UCA, SELA, Northwestern State (and Sam Houston, no less) weren't trying to gain access to the WAC, they weren't from the worst conference in FCS, and they weren't nearly as annoying as Liberty fans.

Wow App has a tough row to hoe this season. Now added pressure not to lose to Liberty from the conference mates.......I like it! 05-stirthepot

And Georgia Southern has the easiest conference schedule with App having the hardest; cannot expect life to be fair though.

I'm just replying because I was happy to see someone actually use the correct idiom.

2010 and 2011 were lame duck season for TXST. 2010 we filled out the SLC schedule for them and they were all gunning for us. The team was classified as an FCS Indy. The players kind of gave up on that season. 2011, Fran and Co experimented the whole season to evaluate what they had, what they would have to work with in 2012 and what they needed to bring in. So, yeah, those 2 seasons sucked.

UCA always had our number from when they started their transition. It was embarrassing.

RE: Bleacher Report: 1 trap game for every team
I guess it depends on your definition of 'trap game'. I take it to mean a team you fully expect to beat no matter how good they may be, you have little to no respect for that team mainly because you know little to nothing about them and think they are beneath you.

That said there is no way SSU is a trap game. Losing that game would indicate GS should just cancel the rest of the season and use the time to get the players grades and after school activities in-line.

I believe Idaho is our trap game. It is a home game against a team that doesn't impress and we know little about. It is a game we will be marking down as a win early on and focusing on GaSt and the Troy games.

Also I think almost all our conference games will be trap games for our opponents: Troy, USA, ULM, and TxSt will be expecting a win when they play GS.

GS or ODU is NCST's trap game.

We are also GT's trap game.

I hope we can spring a lot of these traps and by the end of the season have a nice collection of pelts.

Think that is the designated game where our back ups start.
Especially any walk-on's.
The coaches are going to rotate also; defensive coaches
coach the offense, offensive coaches coach the defense.
offense plays defense and defense plays offense.
First year freshman gets to call the plays.
