Especially in the game against you guys. Our opening scoring drive was a thing of beauty the ball touched 6 or 7 different guys and we scored with ease. Then McKinnon got hurt and came out and for whatever reason we decided to call the same 3 plays over and over again the rest of the game. Had me scratching my head and the defense was a whole different story, ew.
Always thought our defense played the first series real vanilla to see what the other team was going to do. At least it helps feeling that way when a team comes on and scores early on us.
Besides, if we hadn't let you guys have that early touchdown think how much worse the final score would of been than the 38-14.

You didn't let us have the early touchdown. That first drive was beautiful and is an example of how that offense can attack you in different spots and keep you on your heels. However, when you're not calling a good game, it leads to the trash we saw as the game progressed. It's like we had a plan for our first drive and then went to hell after that, regardless of McKinnon getting injured.

The same thing happened in 2012. Ya'll didn't let us go up big early, we just had your defense straight up confused as to what we were doing and you weren't comfortable. Then we decided to get conservative as your offense woke up and realized where our defense was weak. We didn't know what to do after that and ya'll had the advantage after that. Didn't help that we couldn't have kicked a FG if our lives depended on it.

As great of a job as the previous staff did, there was a lot of stuff that happened that would cause you to scratch your head. The bad thing about it is those mistakes never really seemed to get better. We did seem to do a poor job of adjusting to what defenses would do as the game went on at times as well.

Even with replay, I'd set the over/under at 3.5 months before we hear a GSU loss blamed on the refs.

I have to say it gave me chills when I watched it! G.A.T.A. Eagles! :-)

Posted from my mobile device using the CSNbbs App

Still crowing about that 2010 game.... What about 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 & 2013? Otherwise it's a nice video.

AppMan we call those the dark years. Two remarkable things happened during that time. 1 Someone decided to DESTROY or offense and traditions and 2 We ran off one of the greatest players in FCS history. With three consecutive trips to the final four and a win in the swamp I think we can be confident that the ship has been righted. "2010" marked what we all knew was the beginning of our return. Digging reeeeaaal deep there is what could be a silver lining. The most successful program in the leagues history survived the trip to haydees and back in great health and was able to leverage the recent success of our conference rival to make the jump to FBS. You may consider the possibility that just as the App "bee hive" had been 05-stirthepot by the Eagle, he stepped away for a moment. Fortunately for us it was Crappy State who unlike GS had great leadership that we both benefited from in the end. 04-cheers

We have a plethora of Xbox geeks that think they can call a game at the D1 level. Just about everyone of them hated the flexbone. Huge Chris Hatcher fans when he was hired.

It was hard not to be excited about the offense the first 2 years when it was 30+ppg. The defensive staff left a lot to be desired, and they weren't all that great at developing players overall as time went on, but sometimes you just don't know how those things are going to work out.

Even if you only believe the flexbone is the only way to play football, even you would have to agree that something has been wrong in how we call games the last couple of years. Brent Davis was a great OL coach, but he seemed a bit out of his element calling the offense, outside of a few games. His best games were where it didn't matter if the offense held back or not....we seemed way too prone to try and keep stuff off tape which is completely asinine.

The GSU "DARK AGES"
It's sill not far enough down the road from those days not to give me shivers. The dismemberment of all that was GSU. I'm still circumspect
of any coaching change that does not feature the triple option as the our ground attack. Even our new hire in HC coach Fritz and his Pistol Option has me on edge..

To App Fans. You deserve the wins during the "DARK AGES". It was our ADS fault to scrap the Spread Option and you appropriately took advantage of that with a superior coaching staff.

Still The RGSU/App games will become a mainstay in the SB & with a little luck we'll even up the score!

Well you know - all they have to do is get the calls right and we are "all good". 04-cheers And now they have replay to help.... IMAGINE if they had that in our earlier matchups!
