Of course you don't.
CMU is going to run silly on Purdue's defense.
That's vintage slappy.
Hey slappy, with Davis out do you think they'll be stacking the line? I do.
Your two biggest plays were questionable calls that kept you from punting.
CMU managed to go 3-0 without Davis over the past 2 years. One of those games happened to be a bowl win. Something WMU has never done...
Thanks.
News Flash Slappy, Cody Wilson graduated, your next best receiver is awaiting trial for being caught shoplifting........TWICE (they always talk about how Enos recruits quality kids)
So yeah, I do think they'll sit on the run.

I thought the behavior was quite good from the second half on, what just set you off?
Apologies. I was a little shaken up with that Celiscar play. The kid is so positive. Someone in our section said it looked like they were administering CPR and I about puked.
With Currie and Celiscar....HUGE bye week this week. Hope they come back soon!

Granted our WR missed a few catches especially Davis on some critical situations BUT there was many times Terrell just made some god awful throws. Many times he could have just tucked it and ran and he didn't. The pick in the first half was huge, Davis needs to be more involved, special teams play and our run defense missed to many tackles. All things we can improve on, just not sure about our QB.
Coach Fleck said the teams number 1 objective to improve this year was to turn it over less and not allow the other team easy points. Natural improvement in other areas would then net a positive.
In the first half, WMU's wide outs never provided any separation on their routes. Tough to thread a needle when the main mantra is dont't turn it over. And to your point, several receivers just plain muffed easy catches, when they were open.
2nd half, with the run well established, receivers were able to get separation has PU was looking for #31. How many TD's did Terrell throw in this situation?
First game of year. They had a shot to win, but couldnt stop PU. I dont think Zach Terrell missed a single defensive assignment all day.

Could the "bad throws" been throw aways because the receivers couldnt get themselves open? Wise decision by ZT or just following the plan by the HC to not turn it over?
Time is ticking, the pocket collapsing and based on the HC's decisions the back up QB's aren't ready. So tuck, run, get speared and in comes this years unprepared replacement. Could ZT's decisions been either a wise choice of his own or scripted from the HC?
"...some Critical situations BUT..." No but about it. You say critical, then that is 100% on the WR not on any QB. What's with the passive aggressive? The WR drops a pass right in their hand and at a critical time and you diminish with BUT? Fish or cut bait. No credit for hitting his WR's in the hands (and they drop). Please.
When WMU firmly established the run and the WR's got separation in the 2nd half did ZT deliver?
I think both points (1. bad throws 2. receivers not getting separation) are valid.
GB - I noticed the same thing (receivers not getting separation) but the throws were still not there. Terrell was overthrowing guys, throwing behind their back, skipping balls of the ground... the accuracy wasn't there even in situations where receivers were getting open. The second half was obviously different.
I think the bottom line is ZT just needs to get off to better starts here so we're not always playing from behind. Fortunately we appear to have a running game this year so we won't be completely one-dimensional and as predictable even when we fall behind early.

Love it, your quick on your feet
Can you play still, have any eligibility left?
I'm calling Fleck, walk on tryouts are this week
I would like to take this opportunity to actually commend the OC for making some adjustments in the FIRST HALF... finally to move from putting Terrell in passing situations to leaning on the running game, recognizing that there were some gaps up front due to Purdue sitting on the WMU pass attack... We had an entire series ending in a TD that was on the ground...
I am still not a real fan of our Offense running no huddle and looking to the sideline every play... however it takes some pressure off of the QB and if done well it can be successful. First game rust cost us some field position and time outs... but that's to be expected in the first game... ON THE ROAD.

Thank God we had a Freshman running game cause it would have been ugly in that first half!
Have to give OL credit. Since in prior threads many were saying that PU DL would have the advantage over us in the trenches.
Agree with all of that. Not trying to be a Slappy here but there are way more positives to take out of Saturday's game than I can remember at any point last season.
+ Offensive play-calling appeared much improved (dare I say it was even "creative" at times)
+ Offensive line gave good protection and opened up some nice holes for the running game
+ We established a running attack (i.e. welcome Jarvion Franklin)
+ We have more weapons on offense than last year (having Braverman back is awesome and he adds another dimension/wrinkle to our offense)
Those points alone has me excited about the rest of this season, albeit tempered excitement.

My take aways from game one is that the O staff should likely do the following.:
1. Run the ball.
2. Run it again.
3. Run it some more.
4. Play action and then most D1 QB's will be able to make the right throw and accurately. ZT wont have to throw the ball away as much because their will be separation.
5. Throw it to the TE more often. Remove him from milk cartons as missing in action. Move the chains. Boyden can play.

I agree but with less tempering. If the Defense can plug holes and apply some pressure to the QB then WMU can win 5-6 games this year. By running the ball effectively you leave more in the D's gas tank to be effective when they see the turf. The latter was Cubit's short coming.
