South Alabama is in there three or four times (vs the Cajuns, Tulane, Mississippi State, and some other team). I also saw the softball team. I had to pause the video to be sure though.

What first chance? Conference realignment will have to occur and there are fair odds that won't happen for at least 6 years. If that did occur, then Arkansas State and Louisiana would have to be part of those involved.
There would probably be only one or two slots involved (the SEC isn't going to 20 members). Here is a list of schools with a reasonable shot at being involved for those one or two mythical spots at the moment. Arkansas State, Louisiana, Texas State, South Alabama, James Madison, New Mexico State, NIU, Georgia State. There are probably others. As we have seen before, conference realignment does not always make sense and conferences do not choose members based on our criteria. Even if there is a new round of conference realignment....our chances of being in the one or two chosen are...like everyone else's...iffy.
Then you throw in the fact that college football may be undergoing a sea-change due to the courts and nobody knows what will happen.
The only rational course of action is to continue to build the conference you are actually in rather than rely on a golden ticket to a conference someone else built...and then abandoned.
It makes no sense to set fire to our house because we hope we might have another some day maybe. It makes no sense to spend the best year's our program has known being sour, mad, and sad.
I'm not sour, mad or sad. CUSA is now almost a lateral move. I had a chance it go to Lafayette yesterday and I had to pass through campus. Besides the stadium renovations, they are rebuilding the student union, the quad and updating numerous buildings. Lots of cranes and construction going on. I was kind of sad to see the old dorm I spent a year in being gutted. It would seem we are on the move. Maybe the Sunbelt "We're on the Move" would be a better slogan? IMHO "Together We Rise" is old and cheesy considering we lost like three members just last year.

We're not going anywhere...but if you guys are...well...good luck as an independent.
You know as well as I do that you guys are going to bolt given the first chance. I'm just being honest. I've never liked the "Together We Rise" slogan. I can't think of something better but then again I don't get paid to do advertising. Does ASU represent only the town it's located in? I think not.
We're not entirely sure of that up here. It would depend on the circumstances and who called.
I still think what will happen is the SBC and CUSA will eventually merge.

I know... But Texas State doesn't have one! And Troy, the Cajuns, App State, NMSU, and Idaho don't count (UTA & UALR either).
But it's not a knock on Georgia Southern... I just don't like it.
Can you really tame a bobcat?
stAte doesn't have one...but that's probably more because Red Wolves are an endangered species.
I double checked my own facts. There are between 90-110 Red Wolves living in the Wild today. (Mostly in North Carolina) with 200 more living in captivity. There were 9 confirmed shootings of Red Wolves last year, and the government is having to kill coyotes to keep them from cross breeding with the Red Wolf.

I believe at one time they were even thought to be extinct.
Also, GaSt needs a live panther.
Would have to bring one from out west likely as they are largely extinct East of the Mississippi. Could do like Houston and sponsor an exihibit at the local zoo and show the Panther on the jumbotron at games.

They are few and far between in Georgia but there are still some around. I think it was three years ago I saw some cat tracks on the banks of the Ohoopee River near my home waaaay to big for a bobcat. Also a friend got one on a game camera in an adjoining county last deer season.

I don't think I ever said we were team USA. I believe that's South Alabama. We represent Louisiana. I'm sure Tech, ULM, Tulane and LSU feel the same way. Like I said most Sunbelt teams can claim students from all 50 states and around the world.

We have a long history of international students and have a campus underway in central Mexico. We definitely represent the US.

Doesn't Liberty have one of those?
Also, live mascots are largely ridiculous. The only way I can support it (for wild animals, anyway) is when it's done like GS does, with rescued animals and experts keeping the animal's welfare in mind. Auburn seems like they handle it well, too.
Even the Uga phenomenon kind of pisses me off, because it encourages rednecks to pay ridiculous amounts of money for ridiculously inbred dogs. I was at a convenience store in Athens once when some folks were showing off a bulldog pup in the parking lot and bragging about its connection to one of the Ugas (true or not...who knows?). I wanted to throw up a little bit.
This. I dated a girl at GaSou and her thUGA brother undergrad came to GaSou for his masters bought one of those uga "relatives". That dog had breathing problems at age one or two. Basically those dogs have one maybe two decent years of running around like a normal dog then it seems they are just trying to breathe for five more years.
As for Southern, as stated all of the birds at the wild life center including our mascot(s) are injured and are not really wild anymore or never were.
