"UL-Lafayette has added 8,000 seats by way of an end zone expansion project. Mark Hudspeth told CoachingSearch.com last month, “The south part of Cajun Field has been bowled in. We’re going to take the capacity to about 39,000 and that will be completely finished for our opening game against Southern University on August 1. Our first two home games are against in-state opponents. We play a very good Louisiana Tech team in week two and we’re expected 45,000+ for the first two games, so it’s going to be overflow for the first two games even with the additional 8,000 seats that we’re adding."

That's what we in Louisiana call "Hud Math"...he tends to exaggerate a bit to make it sound better. In this case he may have crossed the line : )

Tech could be a decent team this year. Coupled with a game against the hated Cajuns at Cajun field in front of 40,000+, anything can happen.

Hey, speaking of 40,000+......do they really think the numbers will top 45,000? That would be a pretty solid way to start off the year. Of course, we need to win too.04-cheers

I think you'll draw better for Southern. Tech just isn't very good, and wont bring the crowd to Lafayette.

Southern travels well, that's for sure. We'll see how Tech travels.

probably around 35 to 40 for Tech...41,000+ last time Southern attended and the fire marshal turned a couple of thousand away....

No, no, no. It's the Big12 they will be going to. SEC, that's just silly.

Seriously though. UL is what ever other SBC program wants to be right now. Great facilities, great support, and lots of winning going on right now. You are setting the bar high for the rest of the conference. Hope you keep it up and the rest of us catch up. 04-cheers

You served notice by busting that Florida azz last year....anyone that overlooks anyone else in the Conference is asking for trouble...

Not everyone. One team has won more in the same time span and are bringing the facilities along for the ride.
