More publicity for GS and the Sun Belt
They said they would start covering the Sun Belt with the addition of GS and APP but I haven't seen anything yet. Hope this means it's about to get started and they move us out of the SoCon. I am anxious to see some articles on our fellow Sun Belt teams.

Eagles Bring Storied History to Sun Belt
By Matt Osborne
SouthernPigskin.com
Today marked a historic day for Georgia Southern, as the Eagles officially became full members of the Sun Belt Conference. The move very well be cause for greater celebration from their newfound conference brethren, however, as the Eagles will be bringing their unrivaled history and tradition at the FCS level with them to their new home.

Despite not fielding a football team for more than 40 years following the outbreak of World War II, Georgia Southern has won six FCS national championships, the most of any program in history.

The Eagles’ tremendous history of success on the gridiron certainly doesn’t end there either. Georgia Southern is one of just five programs to boast two Walter Payton Award winners as the top offensive player in the FCS. Running back Adrian Peterson won the award in 1999, while quarterback Jayson Foster took home the hardware in 2007. The Eagles have also had two coaches – Erk Russell and Paul Johnson – win the Eddie Robinson Award, honoring the top coach nationally in the FCS.

One of the top programs in the FCS in attendance over the past decade, the Eagles have also garnered a reputation for having one of the most intense fan bases in all levels of college football.

As the Sun Belt looks to expand its brand and marketability in the evolving college football landscape, adding a team with a rich history and tradition like Georgia Southern certainly helps set the stage for a successful future.

Sun Belt opponents will undoubtedly spend the next few seasons attempting to familiarize themselves with the pride and passion of Georgia Southern. Given the Eagles’ exemplary historical reputation, though, it shouldn’t take much time for the conference to learn that Georgia Southern is all about one thing: playing winning football.

The Southernpigskin guys have been great to GaSou and the SoCon over the years good to know they will be covering the Sun Belt now. All of you should return the favor and follow them on social media. They will likely be posting here soon, like they have on the GaSou site.

Shouldn't be that big of a surprise. Isn't the founder a big GS backer from Savannah?

It is tied to a radio station I believe. Never noticed any GaSou extra coverage or bias. Typical coverage, SEC / ACC first then everybody else, but always fair and not disrespectful.

Just a pure fluff piece so people will go to their site.
Nice fluff piece though.
"Sun Belt opponents will undoubtedly spend the next few seasons attempting to familiarize themselves with the pride and passion of Georgia Southern."
Yeah, opponents are going to spend a lot of time doing that.

I believe one of their writers is affiliated with Georgia Southern. I asked one of their owners about that when he popped up on the Arkansas State board.

One of the writers is probably from Georgia Southern, but the founders are not hardened Eagles fans or anything, as was alleged.

Armstrong.... that has no football... that is in Savannah... that is an hour away from Statesboro... and started a college football site.

Got it. My bad.
