Don't get too excited just yet.

SoCon TV has been free for the last two seasons.

Only trouble is, all the member schools stream their own video over the platform their athletic web site uses, not on SoCon TV.

Until there is an announcement otherwise from the SoCon, expect more of the same. All you get on SoCon TV up to this point is the different tournaments & championships carried by SoCon TV. Most of the individual schools operate sites that are "fee" not free sites.

Mercer already took the initiative and upgraded all their equipment and broadcasts for ESPN3. It seems all football, basketball, and select other games will be on that platform. I think it's the best solution and I'm glad MU pulled off the upgrade from ASUN TV quality to ESPN3 quality so easily.

I hope that ETSU games are not on ESPN3. Not only do I not get ESPN3, but we also lose the rights to use the footage of those games in whatever way we wish. ASUN TV in the last 2 years was overall fine quality and reliable after a rough first few years.

At that point they'll just have someone not working the ESPN3/WATCHESPN webcast production to shoot video independent of that, plus they're usually good about dubbing a clean feed for highlights for schools. That's no biggie.
