A good team is a good team. Doesn't matter how many people are there to watch them.

They have a strong defense and their young QB got much better as the season went on last year.

Guess good team is a relative term. Being 6-6 last year compared to
3-9 and 1-11 the two previous years may make FAU a good team in comparison.
However finishing strong might have had something to do with playing
FIU, NMSU, and SoMiss the last three schools of the year.

That was an impressive close loss to Marshall.

RE: OT: Decommitment from FAU
They had a young QB that improved as the year went on. I don't think they lost much from last year's team, so I expect them to be solid this year. Real shame that they have almost no fans.

its a shame they cant get fans to attend, the stadium they built is beautiful, first class, just one of those things where you have Miami, FS, Florida, Central Florida dominating the media and the fans attention, there is going to be an odd man out, and that's FAU and FIU.

That stadium is new, but wouldn't call it first class.

They'll get attendance up over the next 2-3 years. Boca will quickly jump on the bandwagon as the wins come.

RE: OT: Decommitment from FAU
FAU was one of the most improved teams in the country during the second half of last year, winning 6 straight after losing one in OT and one on a last-second FG - and will be better this year. The Owls, could easily have been 10-3 last year.

FAU outplayed Marshall and destroyed Tulane.

FAU keeps growing in size and facilities and the Palm Beach County and South Florida fans are starting to come around. A win over Miami would jumpstart that effort.

As for the stadium, it's gorgeous, with two club levels, great sight lines everywhere, all chairback seats, fantastic sound system (the beat will make your pants shake), great video board, ocean views from the upper levels and more.

RE: OT: Decommitment from FAU
they are never going to get the attention that FSU, Florida, Miami, even UCF gets down here. IF your not playing at the highest level and competing for major bowls and national championships your not going to build long term attention from the fans and media. Beating Marshall is great, but down here, when Florida is playing the likes of Bama, LSU, that doesn't mean **** to anyone except to a few FAU fans. Put it this way, on any given Sat, I can walk into almost any sports bar in SF and see the place packed with FSU, Miami, Florida fans, with their team on TV, in 14 years down here, I have never seen a bar packed with FAU fans watching the game, I'm sure there is a bar down here somewhere, that might have a few fans proudly wearing their owl shirts, but Ive never seen it.

But, but, I was told they have market.....that's their potential......big bucks from TV contracts. I'm so confused.

10 years of playing big time FB vs 110 yrs for Florida. Might have something to do with fanbase size. Prior to 2011, games were played in a minor league facility 20 minutes away in another city(Ft Lauderdale).
New stadium for 3 years now, but you have to put a good product on the field in S Fl. You only have to look at the empty seats at the Canes' homegames to know that. The Owls have a good market to draw from and a few seasons of winning along with the growth of the University certainly is changing things for the better. Take a look at the property being sold and developed around campus, I see it every day.

sounds like another team I know of that constantly beat its chest about market size and potential.

FAU already gets WAY more attention in South Florida than UCF gets (or ever got). FAU has regular coverage in at least five daily newspapers in South Florida and almost daily coverage on five West Palm Beach-based TV stations, once in a while on the Miami-Fort Lauderdale stations.

Do they get more or less coverage than FIU?
