It is pretty bad in August. You would die in Central America however. I would still take July in Savannah over July in Macon. Convinced that someone left a white dwarf star in a parking lot downtown.
I managed it for 3 summers, also has a business painting apartments, do most of the work in August, many of the places had no power

Not sure how roofers manage in Atlanta. Has to be the most thankless work out there in July and August. Also have some friends who work HVAC. Definitely would not want to be doing an install in an attic right now.

Came home to Statesboro last night after two days in ATL to find that my A/C was out and that my house was a balmy 85 degrees.
Got a guy to come fix it at 9 a.m. and I would have made out with him on the spot if that was the price he was charging. As a native Pennsylvanian I honestly can't fathom how people lived down here before A/C. I never fully appreciated the term 'oppressive heat' until I came down here.

What general was it from somewhere like Massachusetts that Georgia gave a plantation to after the War for Independence that died of heat stroke a year later because of the gift and having to live near Savannah.

That would be Nathanael Greene.

Thanks. Always thought of that being so ironic.
Being killed by an act of appreciation is some weird way to go.
Guess being from New England he was just not used to the heat and humidity
of South Georgia.

Statesboro heat is brutal. Never been to a hotter place. People in Charleston look at me weird when I tell them how mild their summers are.

For once in my life, I agree with 'skins. I have never been to a hotter, more humid, oppressive, energy-draining place in my life. I spent an entire summer in the Keys, and Statesboro has it beat because the wind RARELY blows.
100 degrees, 80% humidity, winds 0-2 MPH...
One reason why Southern has usually been more conditioned than other teams we played. Our offensive philosophy was to wear them down, and we did, especially in home games.
One positive that does come from the heat... bikinis. Bikinis as far as the eye can see.

There is something about that whole region of the state (because the wind rarely blows). Its just stagnant hot air pressing down on you with the gravity of Jupiter. As a kid I remember visiting Macon from Panama and never going outside to play because it was horrible. My uncles looked at us like, but you kids live in PANAMA. And we would say yeah but in Panama it rains.

There has to be at least a dozen large community pools within sight of the stadium. Ain't nothing like August in Statesboro...it feels like there are more hot women than grains of sand!

I'm surprised none of yall have heard about the Texas Summer Bash that went down this past Saturday in San Marvelous. It's making headlines everywhere. Google #TXsummerbash to see what I'm talking about.

Yep, you guys are living life large; ha, ha.
Bikinis as far as the eye can see is good, but being able to breath and walk around outside is more important to me. Hate to walk out the door and instantly be drenched in sweat. Boone and the High Country is a nice place, down South, to be able to have temperatures 10 to 15 degrees cooler, and a heck of a lot less humidity, + breezes, and some clouds, especially when you are up above some of the clouds.

Grab a case of beer, head to the pool, get your drink on, and scope out the majestic sun kissed bodies and you will soon forget the heat even exists.

Great! We've recently added a wave rider and a couple of new slides.
The Club House, next to campus, has also just added go-cart racing.
http://www.clubhousestatesboro.com/virtual-tour/
And for your golfing pleasure:
http://recreation.georgiasouthern.edu/golf/
I'm telling you guys, it's a super nice, cheap, round of golf. And by the way EVERYTHING in Statesboro is close to campus. Even the outskirts if you get my drift.
Man, that looks great. We had an all weather water park announced that would be built next to Tweetsie Railroad about five miles from campus a few months ago. Just this week though the NC Legislature passed a bill which basically let's just about anything to be built outside Boone, so if that stands many fear Boone area will lose some mountain views to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg like attractions. Lot of angry people that want to keep Boone area fairly pristine.
It's a view worth keeping fairly pristine. That's one beautiful area.

I believe it had something to do with how places were built. Those old homes were designed without AC. I kind of forgot that until right after graduation I lived in a house that was built in the 1860s. It had fans and big windows and high ceilings and no central AC, and somehow, believe it or not, it wasn't bad.
Actually, I prefer hot and humid to just about anything else.
I think living in heat and humidity is in my DNA since all my ancestors back to the 1700s hail from either SC or Ga.
I wish we'd stuck to 1 p.m. kickoffs. I liked being out there in the hot sun with the gnats and complainers.

I would probably be all the way down if I drank a case of beer by myself in that heat and humidity at pre-game.
