RE: GaSou picks up one late for 2014
Late pickups tend to worry me. I wonder if the coaches are just filling a position with a number to make sure there are enough warm bodies. Georgia State picked up a couple of late kids.

I suppose some could have literally just flown completely under the radar, but it seems like they probably weren't high on the board. I'm not sure what to think yet.

For some reason he had not taken his SAT or ACT's by signing day. Most schools were recruiting hims as an athlete MTSU and GaSou were the only ones willing to take him as a QB. Smells like to me he was waiting as long as possible for a "big" school offer. Either way Fritz does not take warm bodies and has been quoted as saying as much. This is why we still have room for him. We still did not sign a full class for 2014 I believe this puts us only at 22. So definatley not just taking warm bodies.

Late pickups are almost always academic question marks that unexpectedly qualified.

"Warm body" might have been the wrong term. I don't think any coaches take guys just to have another person on the team. I just mean he might not have been as high on the recruiting board as Coach Fritz would have liked.

On the other hand, some of these guys genuinely get discovered late in the process. No one else recruited them and you are able to swoop in and get a commitment. Hopefully for y'all it's the latter.

He actually looked good on avoiding tacklers and would think that played into Fritz's thinking a lot.
Would make a heck of an option in a running attack mode.

Yeah a friend of his (or it may have even come from his twitter, can't remember) tweeted on signing day about being proud to be an Eagle. Then later on tweeted again and said, "Hold up, not yet." So I'm thinking it was a grades/clearance sort of mess that just now got cleared up.

We recruited a kid like that once. Turns out he took the ACT late and the results weren't in. Peterson or something was his name I think. Turned out pretty ok.

That makes a lot of sense.

Everyone looks good in their highlight tapes. Hence the word "highlight".

Sometimes academic casualties open up scholarships as well.

I think I'll have a beer.

Not everyones highlights look good. I've seen plenty that leave me shaking my head. How do you watch a bad highlight reel and decide to publish it?

Hm. Let's not seem too confident about this add. 04-rock04-cheers02-13-banana

Still getting used to all this open/free recruiting info. I like our size on the OL. We still need depth all across the board, but I think we'll be fine in 2 years.

Yeah, with two older brothers at UGA, he'll be hard to hold onto if he has a big senior season.

Amazing how few players both GaSo and App go after.
You would think there would be a lot.
Your new guy looks good what they show of him.
