No shite! Every QB is a system QB. Peyton Manning is. Tom Brady is. Put Tom Brady in Ga Southern's scheme and he would be terrible. I never understood that phrase

Which is when I laugh at all of these pro style and dual threat tags. Can he throw the ball and what happens when he steps in the huddle?

Not every QB can run the zone read and drop back and drop a deep out or go over deep coverage...dual threat means just that.

Actually its just a euphemism for running QB

right. same thing. he is a dual threat. he can run, or pass. Dual. two. pass and throw. Dos.
I get that. I am just saying that recruiting services put an an over emphasis on those labels. And anyway, if you need a QB specifically to run the read option then yeah youre looking for a QB for your system

I actually agree with Panama for once. It's come a bit far from what it was originally meant with all the different option offenses being utilized now. When I read Pro-Style I think "Good arm, can make tough passes, can't run." When I read Dual-Threat I think, "Decent arm, trouble with tough passes, can run an option."

Luckily for these guys the coaches evaluate them and don't rely on tags like us fans do haha.

It's the go-to option from spread-type offenses. Even if you use a pro-style QB, you just employ more wild-cat packages.

Technically speaking, the three QB recruits in this thread are probably the highest rated QBs (out of high school) the SBC has ever seen. Not everyday the SBC gets below the 50th best in class mark.

And some of them may never throw a meaningful pass. All just conjecture at this point.

FWIW, my post was more tongue in cheek about all the rah rah cheerleading going on COGS

Think we all look at each QB our schools sign and think he is the next Joe Montana. But then we see each QB our conference mates sign and think he is the best thing since sliced bread, and wonder why our school didn't go after him more.

Speaking of QB's - one of the best we ever had came from some school called Northeast or Northeastern Louisiana University.
From California, Daniel Jeremiah, who had spent two years at Louisiana-Monroe, transferred to App State even though we
had a glut of QB's and never recruited him.

Should provide good competition for the QB spot.

Offers from Miami (FL), Boston College, Southern Miss, MTSU, App, Toledo.

I can understand Boston College, but damn, how did we land a QB that had an offer from Miami?

SBC's going to continue having some crazy, fun to watch offenses.

It was Miami (OH) but this kid does look like a good get: http://www.forsythnews.com/section/112/article/24534/

Great guy, and does a great job for NFL, but I don't put him in the one of the best ever category. At the time he may have been top ten, but too many good ones have come since his time.
