That goes without saying, but the differences between Miss State and Ole Miss and the top of the SEC in resources are significant. Winning a meaningful bowl game occasionally and competing consistently in the Top 15 for a national championship are entirely different accomplishments.
Of course, but in terms of career advancements those are two things possible at MSU and not at UL.
In terms of career advancements, if Hud would take the Miss State job he will have hit a ceiling on a career path unless he could find a way to win more than 7 games a season and the ocassional division championship. No top ten program is sitting around waiting to offer Mullen a job. I see Hudspeth as the type of coach that wants the chance to coach at the top of the SEC or ACC. If he were offered and accepted the Miss State position, to me it will be about the money and getting closer to his parents. But he would have to convince his wife, because she does not like Starkville.
Really.
I would not put him in the top three head coaches in the SBC this year, so you guys should have your coach a while. Good for you.

I just want Hudspeth to leave because its time for someone else to go through a coaching search. We've paid our dues.

I'm certain he will chiefsfan, I don't see Hudpseth as a career lifer at UL. When the right opportunity comes, he will be gone.

Actually I probably would have him at #3 because the new ASU coach has never been a HC.
Not a sure thing because there are other good coaches in the SBC, and some look like they outcoach your coach, just don't have the talent.
Thought he was better than Harsin ( who certainly has the potential to be very good).

Who are the two that you have rated above him?

X's and O's are not the only aspect of bring a head coach. I don't think anyone will argue that HUD is a great X's and O's coach. I will put him up there with anyone as a recruiter, motivator and the guys will run through a brick wall for him.
