UALR Baseball Coach Scott Norwood "resigns" after accused of bullying own players
He'd been at UALR for 6 years. They'd been to the SBC Tourney I believe Twice in those 6 years...but they won the whole thing one of those years.

Trojans will begin a National Search for their new head coach.

Kind of interesting, but UALR hired Norwood the same year ASU hired Raffo, as both programs tried to eliminate the stench of never making the SBC Tourney and produce competitive teams. Interesting to see where the two schools are now.

UALR has been uncompetitive for a while now. They need help with a better stadium, but it was really only a matter of time. I wonder if stAte's increase in the standings put any added pressure.

We certainly put pressure on each other. No one likes to lose to the other.

UALR is a mess to figure out. Its clear they don't have the capital to support building a new stadium, yet they have a 6 year old Minor League Stadium a 10 minute drive away, and they have not once considered playing more than an off game there, and have never bid for the SBC Tournament and the potential financial advantages it could bring.

To be truthful, I worry that they will have a hard time staying afloat if realignment blew up the SBC and they had to find another league.

Used to be if AState was recruiting a kid and they said they were thinking about UALR that the AState coaches encouraged them to visit the field. Don't know if Raffo does that but considering AState's facilities are functional and not much more, that says a lot.

Well in the official story it was stated Norwood had decided to pursue "other interests." Hence, he wasn't fired and the fact remains he's got a title and a post season notch on his belt-Raffo can't make either claim.

Just seems sudden and like the article says, very peculiar as to what the interests may be.

Generally a head baseball coach doesn't resign to puruse other opportunities unless he gets another D1 coaching job, which Norwood didn't get.

Have to say he's the only opponents coach who I remember Cajun fans boo'd after watching him berate players on the field.

That explains a lot about the way he acted in Troy last year.

I'm glad to see this came out. UALR players finally gave in and had enough. Several coaches in the SBC already knew about this.

The Google Cached story that started the saga. Some of the comments made in the story has to make me wonder if UALR tried to sweep this under the rug. Well that failed.
