Serious question, has the beat writer ever been to Starkville?

Lafayette aint one of the Seven Wonders of the World, but Starkville is like the 4th circle of Hell.

If these guys were talking about black or Hispanic communities, he'd be labeled a racist.

Aside from that....i must say, when I was 19 and visited New Orleans that I stopped at a small gas station and made the mistake of asking for directions. The nice old man talked to me for 5 minutes, giving me what I think were extremely thorough directions....but I didn't understand a word.

Great, genuine people....but the language is difficult to understand.

Yeah, There's no doubt The Cajun accent is very difficult to understand, but he seriously goofed badly. You can tell from his interview on Jay Walker's show that his paper ordered him to apologize to save face.

Strong words coming from a man that lives in Mississippi of all places. I did Teach for America in the Delta and there isn't a place in the state besides maybe Oxford that I would consider living in.

That wasn't borderline racist, it was racist. If a fan said that crap after being whipped by the Cajuns I could chalk it up to a sore loser. But a beat writer that's just disgusting. We may be the little guys hosting a regional and super regional but there's no place for this crap from someone in his position. If a Monroe fan went off on the Cajuns I could understand we have a rivalry but like I said this is disgusting. Cant wait until we beat Ole Miss so we can send all the Mississippi people home and hope they never have to visit Louisiana again. Oh and if they don't want to play in Lafayette win more games.

Nothing more than typical SEC fan arrogance. We can expect it to only get worse as the P-5 continue to widen the gap between our conferences. I do have to ask though, where is the outrage when UL-L fans routinely insult the home of fellow SBC member ULM? UL-L fans are well known for doing the exact same thing that's now got them so offended. Payback can be a..., well, we'll just say it can be unpleasant.

Some weird comments:

I'm going to go find a neighborhood in Lafayette where I would buy a house, raise a family, and would be a nice place to live.
Oddly enough, at one time in the past Lafayette was the kind of place where you could raise a house and buy a family.

I'll give you that. It was obviously a case of sour grapes on his part.
