About the only other teams we have played in the past are WKU (lost in a semifinal game one year and I think played them 2-3 times in regular season) and ODU (2 very exciting games in the last 5 years). MTSU is the team we have the most history with from CUSA.

Didn't y'all have some good battles with a little team from West Virginia...old SoCon days?

We have history with marshall as well as ECU.

I know, but that's why I mentioned it...Marshall was being ignored, in a sense, as a team with history against GaSo.

Will be interesting to see if y'all can schedule with ECU or Marshall moving forward. No reason why it can't happen, unless they just skeered now (ECU poster responding in 3...2...1....)
GaSo and Marshall played but only six times. Not played in 18 years.
Marshall has a 4-2 record against GaSo I hate to say. Would be good to at least even up that record. Would be a good game would think.
App State played Marshall 22 times. Appalachian has a 14-8 record against Marshall, with some losses after Marshall went FBS, but hasn't played in 12 years. Lot of dislike by both schools toward Marshall. Could mention some things, but will pass.

Little surprised they only played six times, but regardless, App, GaSo, and Marshall have the 1-AA histories that I suspect can be resurrected in FBS. Will be interesting to see if Marshall desires it...could make for some great games and reignite old hatreds. I do wonder if ECU will want to continue games against App...it'll probably take a few years before something can be arranged for Charlotte and ECU, but App has a strong history with ECU too.

You'd be hard pressed to find a fan that likes Marshall that has been a visitor to their stadium.

Beautiful drive to get there until you're in town.

FIU - first "FBS" victory for Georgia Southern. Beat them in 2003 and 2004.

MTSU - "The Hugo Bowl". I believe the 2nd ever non-Saturday ESPN football game back in 1989. Several games played in the 80's and 90's.

Old Dominion - two of the most exciting playoff games I've ever seen. Their coach is a douche and hates us.

WKU - handful of games, including a playoff match up. Owe them one.

Marshall - hate 'em. A few years together in the SoCon.

I completely agree that MTSU would be my #1 choice of teams to play from CUSA but I would not have a problem with scheduling any on this list. Southern Miss, UAB and FAU would also be great teams for GS to schedule a home & home with IMHO.

I agree --- I would take a home/home with ANY CUSA team.

You must be forgetting we played as a 1-AA independent from our start in the early 80's until 1991 or so Marshall became 1-A in 1997 or so. May be a year or so off.

I will agree with others here. The hate is STRONG between us and App and Marshall.

We have a game vs Tulsa but they will be in the AAC this year. Originally scheduled when they were in CUSA. Other than that we currently have no CUSA scheduled until we meet UTSA in 2017

Going to a game at UAB is always an adventure. Bad stadium, bad area, bad fans, however traffic isn't a problem there.

Georgia Southern played them only while both were FCS. GaSo last played them in 1996, the year before Marshall became FBS (1-A) and moved from the Southern Conference to the MAC.
Would imagine a poll of both GaSo and App fans would find MU as the most hated opponent of all time.
Would make for hellacious games though.

Marshall (and that dang WR) just dominated the SOCON for the last couple years before moving up. GS wasn't used to losing like that and it left a bad taste we need wash out. And that stupid gator chomp they do is irritating too.

Marshall only lost two games in '95 regular season, one to NC State and one to App State. Remember they were super ticked about that because we played them in Huntington, WV. Was Jim Donnan's last year at Marshall before taking over at Georgia. Do not remember if Sonny Randall was still broadcasting their games, he really got upset when they lost. Priceless.

I look back somewhat fondly to hanging from the goalposts as they came after knocking off #1 ranked Marshall freshman year in '94 and then parading it down Stadium Dr before tossing it in the duck pond. I say "somewhat fondly" because the adult me 20 years later wants to say "hey kid, don't hang on that, you could get hurt."

If they had left every goal post we ever tore down and dumped into the duck pond, it would look like a pyramid.

Doing this in reverse and I know it will most likely be at least 4 years before Western adds any SBC schools to our OOC schedule (I think we only have 1 game open through 2017)

I hope can get Troy, USA or GASO on our schedule ...all three are with in a easy drive to beaches and a ocean :) my 4th choice would be Boone/APP
