RE: Arkansas State signs 1 for 1 with Big XII team

Unless we want a few seasons with 5 home games. In 2019 and 2020 we play on the road at USM and Tulane. It wouldn't be so bad to just have 5 home games those two years as the 6th game would be really close to Mobile. Especially in 2019, when we have a road game at Troy as well.
So if we wanted to dump FCS games... He're what we are looking at
2016 - we have 5 home games and 6 away games
2017 - we have 5 home games and 6 away games
2018 - we have 5 home games and 5 away games
2019 - we have 4 home games and 6 away games
2020 - we have 5 home games and 6 away games
2021 - we have 5 home games and 5 away games
2022 - we have 5 home games and 4 away games
Here are our options.
1) Keep kicking the can down the road by moving the backlog of games outward. That would be assume we can find teams willing to come to Mobile first. That generally tends to be difficult.
2) Schedule FCS games in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 to even it all out. We would be able to do the following with FBS schools - away 2018 home 2019; home 2021 away 2022.
We'd then have an open home and an open away game for 2022.
3) Suck it up and go with 5 home games in a couple of years.
I have no idea what we should do. My guess is that we'll just keep trying for option 1. I'd prefer a combination of 2 and 3. If we ever went for a 5 game home schedule, 2019 would be the year as we have road games at USM and Troy that year.
I think its a lot harder to fill a series that needs a home game first (because lots of schools would rather get the home game first). So it might be worth it to FCS it out of this mess so we have maximum flexibility in scheduling in the future.
Heck, we'll probably be independent. Perhaps you should try a home game in 2016 or 2017 and return the trip in 2018. Personally against schedule any games with teams that voted against us. This includes MAC teams as some like Ohio put out the call as soon as we reject all sports in the MAC.
Personally would like to see App Stat at home and Georgia Southern away and then flip it. Can see a lot of other combination but those two we have history with and are most desirable.

Nice. ULM had a 1 and 1 with Baylor and has the return game from Wake Forest this year to complete that 1 for 1.

You guys are going to have about to face a massive scheduling problem. You don't get in the Belt (and I'm sorry - I don't think you're going to get there), you're going to have some real problems filling the schedule. BYU is largely already booked up. So is Army. I guess 2 for 1's and FCS games for y'all as well. You need 10 games in 2016 and 2017 (and you currently have zero home games scheduled). You'll need at least FIVE FBS home games each year. Wow, that could be a real problem. The problem you are facing is that many G5 schools are behind the curve like USA is. In other words, they always are looking to fill a 'home game first' . USA's situation is not unique. A lot of P5 teams don't play at G5 teams. And trying for 'home game first' is not a good way to get deals. Note that Ark State's 'good gets' all have one thing in common. None of them are 'home game first'.
I'd definately be contacting Georgia State, Charlotte, Georgia Southern, and App, as they don't have a lot of games already scheduled.

Not the preferred route, but it's not like other teams have not done it. It maybe slightly easier now with some teams ruling out FCS teams.
UMass and Army had the same 2 Saturdays in September 2016 open. We've played nothing but G5 teams since moving up. That's part of the issue and the exact opposite of USA. Seems USA had the right approach.

We actually played 13 FBS teams (12 G5, 1 P5) games in 2012. In 2013, we played 1 FCS - which we f(cking lost, 9 G5, 1 P5, and Navy.
The reason our schedule is behind the curve is because of 'payday games'. We have two at Nebraska. One at South Carolina. One at Ole Miss, and one at LSU. Add in a 2 for one with Okla State. And that's how you get to our situation. We get some cash, home games with NC State, Mississippi State, and Oklahoma State, but we have to pay for it.
