Totally true, does anyone ever use G State?

Was on the club football team helmet. Not sure it was ever in use other than that.

ThUGA abandoned the block G years ago, a block G with "STATE" arching across the front would look good. That GSU helmet though, nah.

I LOVE the GSU helmet.

Got a pic of it to share?

Yah, I like that, just use your lighter blue. We called "shotgun" on Navy Blue over thirty years ago.

Just my opinion, but still think should at least use GaSt and GaSo
to clearly identify. Doubt many will agree, but seems to make more sense.

This! I have no problem with any acronym as there are many common ones in college athletics. It should be GaSo and GaSt on here.

Ironic coming from a GSU ummm GaSt fan who has the worst FBS program in existence and has done nothing but drag the SBC down so far.

Could be:
Appalachian State University
Arkansas State University
Arizona State University
Alabama State University
or several others.

Branding dictated that we stopped using ASU when joining the SBC.
GSU and GS are going to be confused until you both use something else.
But like preaching to the choir I know this just doesn't matter to posters.
Georgia State is happy to use GSU, but even the conference writers get confused.
sTaTe would not be appropriate with the double TT's.
Anyway that's why I either spell it out or use GaSt and GaSo.
Posters on other boards or outside a lot of times talk about the real GSU.
Would really help to ID and not have any confusion.

You are the only one that makes any sense. They will get it when the Media and Networks start using the wrong abbreviations for each school. Maybe it wasn't confusing when everybody knew who Georgia Southern was in the FCS and what abbreviations they used but it will be different in the FBS.

Some say winning will take care of it. We will see if they still don't know which school is GSU. I've been following sports for 50 yrs and I never heard of Georgia Southern referred to by GS. I would even keep track of McNeese in the FCS, so it's not because I wasn't up on the FCS.

Believe me, people will get confused with GSU and GS, and it will start to get aggravating

STOP IT IC! You're talking football to Ga. State fans.
After the GSU/ Ga. State game, (The Battle For The Real GSU) their will only be one standing and that would be the RGSU.

Heck, the TV color analyst get it wrong, and they were covering the game. Imagine being in the playoffs and being referred to as the complete opposite of who you are, Georgia State, who at the time, and no slam intended had all of one win, and that was against mighty Rhode Island.

But holy **** this thread is still going?

I started the thread just to find out if the sportswriter on the Sun Belt website was correct using GSU for Georgia State because when I did it I was told GSU was Georgia Southern, so I was just trying to get some clarification so that next time I post I won't be attacked like last time, thats all.

To be honest, I don't really care what you call yourselves, I just don't want to offend anyone or any University.

The answer is; the conference put out an official naming guide a while ago and Georgia State was referred to as GSU while Georgia Southern was referred to as GS. This is consistent with each universities official naming policies. However, because do a couple of other teams in the conference with an ongoing naming battle, the entire list got scrapped and the conference said "call yourself whatever the hell you like we don't care." But as far as the conference goes, I'd imagine that, save the two Louisianas, everyone else's names will be as that guide said.

Who cares? Let them have GSU. I'm too proud of my school to shorten the name, we're Georgia Southern. All of us should be proud enough to take the extra few seconds to say Georgia Southern. That way there's no confusion....ever.

Even our logo proudly states it. I know you're a big smack talk guy (hell our forum dedicated to that is named after you) but it's time to give this up. The university has made the effort to remove itself from using the GSU moniker. If you want to make fun of them, just call them Gast.....cause they're gonna be gassed when we run all over them. We'll let results do the talking from now on.

we've abandoned that logo in favor of the one that spells out the entire name (minus the Univ.)
