Amazing year
If I'm doing my math right, this will be the first year that the Sun Belt has placed two football members in the top 100 of the Learfield Sports Director Cup standings.

AState is currently 74th with 186 points and likely to score in track.
Louisiana is currently 146th with 70 points but will score in softball, baseball, and men's tennis.

Points are solely based on NCAA post-season competition.

Agreed! But as I google Louisiana-Lafayette, ULL, UL and Louisiana a number of articles appear on Cajun Basketball NCAA Tournament, Softball National Seed, Baseball National Rankings and Host National Seed and Football New Orleans Bowl. Its a banner year for the Sun Belt, with UL leading the discussion in many national publications and sports shows!04-rock

Louisiana now has 95 points, as they picked up 25 in mens tennis. Softball is now guaranteed a minimum of 73 points, Baseball a minimum of 25, but that number is likely to increase to 50 or more.

The cutoff last year for the top 100 was 172 points, so barring unusual circumstances both the Cajuns and the Red Wolves should be well inside the top 100.

Does this qualify as the Bubba Cup consolation prize?

This is far more important than the Bubbas cup. Bubbas Cup doesn't take into account postseason outside of Tennis and a couple other sports.

Not to me.

I'd rather be in the top 100 of post-season performance than league all-sports winner because one measures you against everyone in the nation (although league performance matters to be able to earn the auto bids).

The Sun Belt did have two schools in the top 100 in the 2009-2010 Cup standings, but one of them was Denver, so only one football member [MTSU] was in the top 100.

Thus the qualifier in the first post. 03-shhhh

Denver racked up a lot of points in sports we don't know much about.
