Dave Campbell's Texas Football - Lone Star 25
Dave Campbell’s Texas Football is introducing the Lone Star 25, a countdown of the 25 most important Texas college football players in 2014. Keep in mind: this is not necessarily a ranking of the top 25 best college football players in Texas, but rather the 25 players whose performance will most impact the college football scene in Texas in 2014.
19. QB Tyler Jones, Texas State
Jones played above his freshman status in San Marcos last year and helped the young Texas State program finish with a respectable 6-6 record. And if Jones wouldn’t have missed the season finale with an injury, the Bobcats would have likely beaten Troy and gone bowling for the first time in program history. Now healthy and with a year under his belt, Jones is poised to lead Texas State to new heights. Head coach Dennis Franchione plans to pick up the tempo this season and play to Jones’ strengths. As Jones goes, Texas State goes.

I'm not so sure about that, but I guess we'll never know. When Kolton Browning went down all hell broke loose and they lost some games. Same with the ASU QB (so I hear). Look what happened when the Cajuns lost their starting QB.
It's good to know the QB units in this league are only 1-deep. The good thing for Troy is we are literally four deep at QB.

Which ASU are you talking about? Arkansas State had no real issue last year despite losing our starting QB. The backup turned a 14 point deficit to a near win against WKU, and won the bowl game over Ball State.
If you are talking about App...well I have no idea.
I quickly see why neither of us really use the moniker now.

I think he was referring to us. Our All American QB from the 2012 season had ACL reconstruction during the off season and was still the starter at the beginning of the year. He was just never the same and got benched a couple games into the season.

Looking forward to having you guys in Troy. How well do you guys travel?
Hopefully I can make it up there next season.

Oh, I don't think he is saying any such thing about TXST. What he is saying is that success may depend on Jones. However, he could be a bust. (not too likely) We have at least 2 other guys I think could step in nicely. We have 5 QBs on roster but one of them I'd like to see take a redshirt.
