Should have been signed for 20 years. This will be a fun game for both schools and I predict it will be a annual rivalry every year in the future. Good vision by both administrations seeing the value in the match up.

Sounds like a great series! It makes perfect sense to me. I hope it turns into the big game that it has the potential to be.

I guess I'll have to support Texas State in this one. My son-in-law's sister recently joined the Texas State staff so I now have more of a connection than the Texas State University System. :)

Didn't UTSA make public comments at one point indicating they thought it should be a guarantee game or something for them?

They wanted every game to be in SA, including TXST "home" games, because the capacity is higher. The last game played in SA had 39,000+ fans. TXST insisted the first be played in San Marcos and it be a true home and home. SHould be a fun series with high attendance and sellouts.

First they said that all games should be played in the Alamo Dome due to expected crowd size.

After that failed they tried to get the first game of the series even though we already played once there.

Glad TXST stuck to their guns and got this finalized. It will be a fun series.

Looks like we have 3 more seasons to get our shlt together. I would like to see an 8 game sweep of the cUSA foe.

This will be good for both schools and both conferences.

This is great! Smart move by both schools. You have to focus on the local interest in each school. This is great!

Now if we can get Southern Miss and UAB to do the same with South Alabama. That would give us annual games with Troy, Ga State, Southern Miss, and UAB. I can only hope UAB and USA understand what a great rivalry this could be. Once again, congratulations, this is a great series for UTSA and TXST.

It's a no-brainer and I'm glad that both ADs finally made this possible. Great that they turned this into an 8 year series as well. Its a guaranteed sellout at bobcat stadium and expect at least 40,000+ at the Alamo dome.

Absolutely.

The UTEP AD tried the same thing on NMSU a while back, but NMSU said no,
so after missing a few years, the series resumed.

Can't beat the atmosphere of rivalry games.

Great series! I really wish we could get something like this going with MTSU. When I was a kid in the 80's the GS - MTSU game was always my favorite matchup.

Great move for both schools. Nearby game that should be well attended. North Texas has done similar with SMU. A home-home between the Mean Green and Ponies at least thru 2025.

You guys need to come up with a good name for it. UT/Oklahoma has Red River Shootout. USF-UCF have the War on I-4. The Houston-Rice series was called the Bayou Bucket. This should be a fun series. It would be cool if it had a catchy name.

The series name for oly sports in the Southland Conference was I-35 Rivalry. I'd like to see something new. Maybe something with the region like Balcones Brawl.

Honestly, if we could get another recognizable Texas team to do a home and home that's flipped with the UTSA series, we'd have a GREAT start to our schedules for those 8 years.

I was thinking now get TCU or Baylor to continue playing a Big 12 in state game since our series with Texas Tech is over.
