So, broadcasted, not necessarily televised, huh? :-)

I hope you're right, though.

You have to forgive me. I cut the cable/satellite cord two years ago so the internet (Hulu/Netflix/Amazon) is how I watch TV. But yeah if you have ESPN3 access youre not going to miss many games in this league.

What does that typically run you a month. Ive given it a thought.

Netflix and Hulu plus are $8 a month. Amazon is $99/year. If it wasn't for the Braves I would have done it years ago myself.

Mlbtv.com my friend. Well worth it.

Not if you live in the same market as your favorite club. They blackout the Braves games in Atlanta.

Nor is it worth it if you have a division rivals game blacked out. I get it for the Mets each year, primarily because only the Cardinals are blocked out NL Wise for me...but the Mets and Cards play only 7 times this season.

If I was blacked out from the Braves I doubt I would get it because I would miss 20 Mets game instead of 7.

Half the ESPN3 games have been blacked out to us in N.C.
Maybe that will change with App State in the belt, but not counting on it.

Depends on how it's broadcast. The game we played against Bama was PPV as a Bama production and was blacked out in Alabama and Georgia on ESPN3. The Florida game was a PPV on Gameplan but it was produced by a local affiliate and was available on ESPN3.

Was really just talking about Sun Belt team -vs- Sun Belt team.

No there is still a BIG major difference between ESPN3 and being on the channel lineup.

For one thing - the channels promote the coming games all week and run advertisements. Another is that most TV providers now arrange most of the channels by type. You aren't going to pick up ANY viewers for you game that aren't looking for it on ESPN3. Additionally - not every ISP has an ESPN3 contract - so you are dead there if they don't.
College football fans, potential advertisers - future recruits and old Alumni are likely to catch the game on and watch on the TV Dial. Might rekindle some $ support relationships by being relevant to what they see on the TV on Saturdays.

ESPN3 is nice - and national! But not worth as much as being on TV.

Cord cutters may find themselves without access to many programs like Watch ESPN (I think that is where the new ESPN SBC "channel" is located) - and I believe will require a subscription to ESPN to get an authentication to view.

Even with Hulu Netflix and others - you could easily spend 30 to 40 dollars a month and only have access to what is there. You are also likely to run into bandwidth cap issues unless you are a single guy who doesn't watch much or doesn't stream in HD.
A la carte (or how ever you spell that) - may come some day - but for now a TV provider is the way to go for most sports fans.

And on actual TV is the best place to be for a sports program.

The "new" ESPN SBC channel is just a new presentation of the games within the app and online. It just means that instead of scrolling through 100 plus games on Saturday you will click a Sun Belt link and see a shorter list of just SBC games. It is still ESPN3.

I have yet to run into any bandwidth issues and at any one time I have anywhere from 4 to 10 devices connected. I spend $20 on Hulu and Netflix not $40 and have access to what is there is virtually everything. There are maybe 2 shows I watch that are not (Falling Skies and Continuum) so throw in another $50 for the year for Amazon Instant Video. If your ISP carries espn3 on top of that you have access to dozens of games a week including virtually of G5. Now CBSSports is offering games online and via Roku app for a small fee. Considering I was paying Directv over $150 a month, I love the savings and I dont miss anything.
