RE: Troy softball coach resigns effectively immediately
I hope that Troy finds a good coach and can grow the program into one that is a regular in post season play.

The way Hartwell talks he may have someone in mind.... John Hartwell was the assistant AD at ole miss before coming to Troy. He was involved in bringing in a new softball coach to ole miss. So this isn't his first Rodeo.
He did say he wants a very strong recruiter who will get Troy on top of the SBC immediately.

That is a good idea but it will be very hard to do.

You aren't aware that Ole Miss has a TERRIBLE softball program are you? If I'm not mistaken, they've never once even qualified for the SEC Tournament, much less the NCAA Tournament.

Guess not everyone works out. Every program gets one every now and then. Hopefully he can snatch a winner. This state is a softball hot bed. No reason to be performing the way we have recently.

RE: Troy softball coach resigns effectively immediately
Just thought I'd throw this in on a softball thread:
Texas State head coach Ricci Woodard showed Wednesday that not only can she recruit, but build a strong coaching staff.
Woodard announced the hiring of former Texas pitcher Cat Osterman, who is a former three-time National Player of the Year and a two-time Olympic medalist among other accolades. Osterman joins the Bobcats after spending three seasons at St. Edward's University in Austin.
This should only help what will be a young pitching staff next year. Rayn House graduates, which will leave Kaylee Garner and Ashley Wright as the only two pitchers on scholarship before the new recruits come to town.

I have so say I've wondered why she was at St. Edward's to start with. I would have thought she would have been at a Div 1 university and being groomed. I wondered if she wasn't considered a major coaching candidate. I hope she does well for TxSt (obviously not against the Cajuns). At worst, she'll make your hitters better by pitching BP.

Amos, I know you don't post here much, but that should be TxSt.
We Cajuns need to be sensitive to others' naming preferences.

Guess you have to start somewhere. At least it was in Austin. Could have been waiting for a call from UT, that never came.

Having the turf is nice for Troy and I like all the trimmings (wall padding all the way around, logos on the field). Certainly a very nice setup as an entire park.

In this case two pictures say a thousand words. Nice facility for Troy, but hardly in the league with Louisiana. Artificial turf is nice when it rains, but I prefer grass, sorry we pulled up the real stuff at Cajun Field, and the Tigue.
Kind of like saying the softball coach at USA is the best in the conference when it ain't even a contest. Lotief, Lotief not only a great hitting innovator, but a master at building character, and team chemistry.

Like I said big doesn't make it better. Our size fits our needs. How about showing our new field house and the indoor batting cage?
Look you have a nice facility, but field houses are not what matters. Still you can no doubt have the LTU@RusTON facilities. In fact most high schools do better.

Check out their state of the art track facility while in the tread.

Yep. Nothing new here.
On a side note, its still uncertain when we're gettingthe football endzone complex. But when we do it's going to be really, really nice. Should help with recruiting.

What you need is an LSD expert to help with recruiting. Conviince them the cow manure is really the seer smell of roses. Troy Alabama, among ten place in America nobody wants to visit on vacation.

What is pathetic is anything to do with ULM. Thus we are pathetic because it seems you are like a shadow at 5:00 PM. Your Hoax fiction just gets longer and longer, but soon enough you will be gone.

Troy is a very difficult place to recruit to, no doubt. Facilities need to be top notch to draw quality athletes in. Unfortunately out previous AD dropped he ball on fund raising during a period when Troy was quite successful. Instead of cultivating donors he was always trying to land the home run, big splash donor, and that never happened. Now we have the right guy in place, but it is an uphill climb to catch the others in the conference. It will happen over time. There are major plans on campus and even some off campus plans to bring people and students to Troy.
