ODU Blog with new G5 Section including a G5 Top 25
I have been a member of the boards for a few years. Recently a group of us started a blog "ODU Fan Forums", We recently incorporated a G5 section. We now have contributors from the AAC, CUSA and MWC, if any would like to contribute to that section in the future, PM us.

We began a series "The Gridirons Great G5 Top 25" yesterday. Surprise surprise, it is a backwards countdown poll. The poll included six programs that just missed the Top 25.

Here is a link to a blog posted yesterday. If you have interest, check it out. Remember these are old people blogging. 03-lmfao

link ... Introducing #25 http://wp.me/p4wbqJ-7D

Today's post Introduces #24... http://wp.me/p4wbqJ-aw

We have 6 people from different conference at this time, no one from the MAC or SBC

Thanks for reading.

Contributors for G5 Blogs
(Each of the following will only be represented if we have a contributor from that conference)

If there is interest .....

• G5 “Featured game of the week” (Football. Basketball or Baseball) AAC, CUSA, MWC, MAC and SBC (Starts football season)
• Defensive and Offensive player of the week – each conference. (Starts football season)
• G5 “In the news weekly feature” AAC, CUSA, MWC, MAC and SBC . The top story that best recognizes an achievement from the conference. (Starting in August)
• Selections for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd team All- Conference selection column. (Mid August)
• Ranking the Top 3 QB’s in Conference. (August)
• Possible weekly Top 25 - G5 poll??? *Two Pollsters from each conference. The voters will need to be contributors to the “G5 Blog on ODU Fan Forum” and a member of CSNbbs board. This will enable us to send ballots to be tabulated and returned by a specific date. (Set up prior to Monday Aug 4, 2014) Wee plan to have a pre-top 25 posted before the start of the season. First Pre Poll will debut Tuesday Aug 19, 2014 and we will post a new Top 25-G5 each week on Tuesdays.

Thanks for reading.

The following recommendations have been submitted from other members, any suggests are welcome. You can post or PM us.

* We may have more pollsters, we would like to have equal numbers from each G5 conference.

Thanks Oldtimer

RE: ODU Blog with new G5 Section including a G5 Top 25
At the present time, I have several conference members of different boards that have expressed interest to become a voter for the upcoming weekly Top 25 G5 poll (football season). I hope I made it clear to those interested, to become a pollster he/she will need to be a contributor to the blog as well, even if his post are short and only once a month. I have an AAC csnbbs member, for lack of a better way to describe contributors, so, in the future I will refer to them as "Pollsters". He/she asked that he remain anonymous. I have assured him and others that we will not reveal members screen names and they can use a different pen name for blogs (not their csnbbs posting name.

My original thoughts were to have two voters from each G5 conference. I currently have larger numbers from some and 1 from a few. One person recommended that the more pollsters I allow to vote the more accurate the results will be. His/her statement was, even If they skew their vote to elevate their team, they will still be submitting 25 teams and it will force the results to be more accurate. Anyway, if anyone has an interested PM me so we can add you to the list.

Thanks for reading.

After a comparison and evaluation of the results we will rank the projected order of finish. (East/ West). The planned date for this to start is Monday June 9, 2014. PM me and we will start the dialogue.

Yeah, what the hell is taking people so long to freak out over this?

Here, let me get the ball rolling: I think that getting recognized as a top G5 team is what we should all be striving for. I just wish we could rename the poll "Mid-Major Top 25." 04-rock

(BTW, I will be paying attention to the blog. I like fan-driven G5 content...)

My friend, state at #20? That's where you lose credibility. UL and stAte will be better than any one in the Belt and CUSA in 14 and would certainly finish in the top 1 -4 in MAC and AAC. Mark it down.

Thanks Zeebart,

I appreciate your feedback. Let me just point out that it is not just my assessment of the teams. At the time we started this blog we decided to assemble a list of all G5 teams in the AAC, MWC, CUSA, SBC and MAC. We also added BYU, Navy and Army. We asked the 6 people who started the blog to vote on a preseason Top 25. Again, if any of the contributors showed a bias, I am sure it is because they are a fan of a particular program. After we had a first draft of 31 teams (4 teams tied at 28-31), we actually gave a schedule of opponents for the 31 and asked everyone to predicate a win/loss for every game on their schedule. After everyone made their selections we compiled the list. There may be a dramatic difference in the final outcome at the end of the season, but we had to have a starting point. We are now adding addition members to the Pollster/contributors group.

We are up to 14 people, many more from different schools and conferences. We hope this will neutralize any biases. We all understand how that works. Again thanks for the comment. I would encourage you or any others that would like to participate to join. It is a good way to be an advocate for your team. We would like to have an ongoing Top 25 for the season, starting with a preseason poll and going till the end of the bowl season.

Thanks for reading

Thanks Z,

Our goal was to create a camaraderie with a variety of pollsters/ members as we become engaged as G5 fans. By encouraging an open dialogue for all, it will establish an awareness of others and we will all benefit.

We also felt it would be great entertainment.

The offer is always open if you would every like to be a pollster.
Z, I look forward to future comments.

Oldtimer

No idea...but they must not be very good at #20.

I think the bloggers forgot to look at the last few SBC Standings and the last three years of results from the Go Daddy and New Orleans Bowls.

The majority of these people are Conf USA fans right? .

baruna,

At the time we started the blog, the original 6 contributors of the countdown poll, 4 were CUSA/ODU fans with a 5th person who was a graduate of ECU (a friend for many years). The 6th member was a person I met on the forums, over a year ago; he is a loyal fan of Ball State - MAC. He lives in the Tidewater area of Virginia.

In the last few weeks we have had 15 people that asked to become pollsters for future polls and help out with a blog every so often. I have promised everyone that has joined/participates they would have total anonymity. But from that group we have added 6 CUSA CSNbbs posters, all 6 different schools, 4 MAC school members, 1 SBC member and 4 AAC pollsters.

I have several more PM’s that I have yet to read. But I will add anyone that has a passion to represent their school.

Hope this answers your question.

Thanks for your interest
